Honor Magic 9 Pro Max unlocks ARRI LogC3 cinematic video and dual 200MP cameras

Honor is pitching the Magic 9 Pro Max as a cinematic camera in your hand, leaning hard on a dual 200MP stack and ARRI-backed video tools ahead of the September 28 series launch.

The headline pair is a 200MP main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto, joined by ARRI LogC3 logarithmic gamma and 10-bit 4:2:2 APV encoding for video that is meant to grade more like cinema footage than a phone clip.

Stabilization is another focus. Honor lists 3° gimbal-level video stabilization, CIPA 8.0 on the main camera, CIPA 7.5 on the telephoto, TrueShift anti-shake, and up to 1,000 motion calculations per second.

For longer reach, the G500 telephoto extender is billed with 5.88x telephoto magnification, a secondary 2.35x stage, and a compact lipstick-like body that Honor says is about 55% lighter than its predecessor. The pitch is stage work and long-range shooting without a bulky lens kit.

Chipset, battery, and retail pricing cards are still light. The fresh material here is the cinema video pipeline and the extender kit, not a full launch sheet.

We will update this story when Honor posts the complete retail specs and pricing.
