We’ve all heard about AI’s potential to boost productivity. But what truly matters to me is whether it’s making work better for the people who show up every day. At Cisco, our People Intelligence team, in collaboration with IT, has been exploring this very topic, and the findings are fascinating. Here are five key insights from our research that leaders should take seriously: 1. Leaders are key to adoption. At Cisco, employees are 2x more likely to use AI if their direct leader uses it. 2. Generic AI training doesn’t work. Role-specific, practical training accelerates AI use. 3. Confidence gaps exist among senior leaders. Directors at Cisco often feel less confident with AI than mid-level employees, underscoring the need for tailored support at all levels. 4. Employee autonomy fuels adoption. Hybrid work environments are powerful accelerators for AI adoption, while mandates can hinder it. Employees who voluntarily go to the office are more likely to use AI, while those who are required to work on-site have lower adoption. 5. AI use is linked to employee well-being, but the relationship is complex, with both benefits and trade-offs that require thoughtful navigation. This is just the beginning. Next, we’re looking at how AI is transforming the way teams operate. For now, one thing is clear, employees who use AI aren’t just more productive. They’re also more engaged, better aligned with company strategy, and empowered to focus on meaningful work. #AIAdoption #EmployeeExperience #FutureOfWork

MIT researchers paired 2,310 people into human-human and human-AI teams to create real ads in a collaborative workspace with some fascinating outcomes—tracking 183K messages, 2m copy edits, and over 5m ad impressions. The paper "Collaborating with AI Agents: Field Experiments on Teamwork, Productivity, and Performance" examined many facets of the dynamics of human-AI collaboration on what was most effective. Some of the valuable insights: 🤖 AI changes how teams talk and work together. Human-AI teams sent 45% more messages than human-only teams, with a focus on task execution—suggestions, instructions, and planning—while human teams sent more social and emotional messages. Despite this shift, both team types rated teamwork quality similarly, showing that collaboration can remain strong even when social interaction drops. 🧍➕🤖 One person plus AI can match or beat human teams. Individuals in human-AI teams produced 60% to 73% more ads than individuals in human-human teams, closing the productivity gap that usually favors groups. Despite having only one human per team, human-AI groups created just as many ads overall as two-human teams. 🧠 Human-AI success depends on psychological compatibility. When a conscientious person worked with a conscientious AI, message volume increased by 62%, signaling better engagement. But mismatches had negative effects—for example, extraverted humans working with conscientious AIs saw drops in text, image, and click quality across the board. 📊 AI lets people shift from doing to directing. Participants in human-AI teams made 60% fewer direct text edits compared to those in human-only teams. Instead of rewriting content themselves, they communicated what needed to be done—refocusing effort from manual changes to guiding and refining AI-generated output. 🔄 AI redistributes cognitive workload and changes who does what. With AI handling routine and complex text generation, humans shifted attention from editing to strategic input and idea generation. This redesigns roles within teams, suggesting new ways to organize work where humans steer, and AI constructs. Humans + AI is the future. This research provides more valuable foundations for understanding how to do this well.

I've received a few questions on this, so thought I'd share 5 ways I'm using AI in my day-to-day at work to boost productivity, insight, and strategic clarity: Benchmarking: I use AI daily to quickly validate metrics and performance benchmarks. For instance, when reviewing email open rates, I ask ChatGPT (and other LLMs) for industry benchmarks segmented by email types, industries and content. This provides immediate clarity on performance against the rest, and I can see if we're good, great, or have work to do. This information was hard to find or non-existent before and instantly helps builld context. Thought Partner: LLMs elevate my strategic thinking. Whether analyzing competitors or drafting new strategies, I leverage AI to rapidly identify gaps, assess my thoughts against frameworks like "Seven Powers," and run game theory on them with competitive response and market players. It uplevels my thinking and leads to more comprhensive considerations. Deepening Customer Insights: By processing sales call transcripts and meeting notes through AI, I can surface customer pain points and uncover new insights, which improves my understanding of customer needs, sales blockers and messaging that otherwise would be hard to come by. Writing Partner: I use AI to power my writing process—from refining documents to constructing logical, concise, and compelling arguments. It helps draft outlines, provides examples and proof-points to reinforce my assertions, and streamlines my writing. All-in it makes my writing better and faster. Automating Daily Tasks: I use AI-powered tools daily to track competitors, monitor market trends, and check-in on things I care about. It never stops working and so I always have this information available as needed. Today, AI is integral to about half of my workday. And this is just the beginning—there's even more potential to unlock with automations such as reviewing and drafting replies for my emails, prioritizing which documents to review next, and automated meeting prep. How are you integrating AI into your workflow? I'd love to hear what's worked for you.

  • If you’re in leadership, you need to understand *how* genAI will transform your organization, and what that means for restructuring teams. Here's what we're learning: BREAKTHROUGH IN AI IDEATION OpenAI is getting ready to launch new AI models (o3 and o4-mini) that can connect concepts across different disciplines ranging from nuclear fusion to pathogen detection. (Reporting from The Information's Stephanie Palazzolo and Amir Efrati). Molecular biologist Sarah Owens used the system to design a study applying ecological techniques to pathogen detection and said doing this without AI "would have taken days." THE NEW TEAMMATE EMERGES Remember the HBS study with 776 Procter & Gamble professionals? It showed that genAI functioned as an actual teammate. Individuals using AI performed at levels comparable to traditional human teams, achieving a 37% performance improvement over solo workers without AI. Teams using AI were three times more likely to produce top-quality solutions while completing tasks 12.7% faster and producing more detailed outputs. BREAKING DOWN SILOS That study showed that AI also dissolves professional boundaries. Without AI, R&D specialists created technical solutions while Commercial specialists developed market-focused ideas. With AI, both types of specialists produced balanced solutions integrating technical and commercial perspectives. A NEW KIND OF TEAM AI users reported higher levels of excitement and enthusiasm while experiencing less anxiety and frustration. Individuals working alone with AI reported emotional experiences comparable to those in human teams. That's wild. RESTRUCTURING FOR ADVANTAGE The HBS study showed that AI reduces dominance effects in team collaboration. When genAI translates between roles, it accelerates iteration at a pace that there’s no way traditional teams could match. ++++++++++++++++++++ THREE THINGS YOU SHOULD BE DOING NOW: 1. Upskill your entire workforce: Develop a fundamental behavioral shift in how teams interact with AI across every task. This only works if everyone is doing it. (We work with enterprise to upskill at scale - more below.) 2. Experiment with new team structures: Test different AI-team combinations. Try individuals with AI for routine tasks and small teams with AI for complex challenges. Find what works best for your specific needs. 3. Redefine success metrics: Set new standards for what good work looks like with AI. Track not just productivity but also idea quality, knowledge sharing across departments, and team satisfaction—all areas where AI shows major benefits. ++++++++++++++++++++ UPSKILL YOUR ORGANIZATION: When your company is ready, we are ready to upskill your workforce at scale. AI stocks may be overpriced, but the real edge belongs to organizations that embed AI in daily workflows—speeding decisions, reducing repetition, and freeing time for creativity and strategy. I’m always energized when a team member surfaces a practical AI use case in our daily work at Wright Research. To build on that momentum, I organized an AI competition with a clear challenge: demonstrate how an AI tool can meaningfully improve the way you work each day. The responses were eye-opening. Teams explored: → Cursor for coding and debugging with speed and accuracy. To be honest I myself am addicted to the platform and use it extensively. → ChatGPT for sales scripting, content generation, and research → CRM integrations that enhance CRM productivity and customer journeys → Canva AI for instant marketing visuals → Figma AI for user interface prototyping → Fascinating workflow automation with agents and n8n that can enhance research process. → ChatGPT-driven summarization and market research collation → Experiments with emerging tools like Google Veo for creative applications. (I am fascinated by creators using AI to generate youtube videos 😛) What stood out was not the novelty of the tools, but how quickly employees translated them into meaningful use cases. The exercise highlighted that the value of AI lies in augmentation, not replacement—equipping professionals to operate at a higher level of efficiency, creativity, and analytical depth. The long-term winners in this wave will be the firms that embed AI deeply into their processes, moving beyond experimentation to systemic adoption. That is where organizational edge will be built. Which AI tools have you found transformative in your own workflow?

🚀 Embracing AI in the Workplace: A Guide to Empowering Your Team 🚀 I was recently being interviewed to share how to drive AI usage within our company. The interviewer shared that while it is a good concept, many companies still struggle to drive meaningful adoption. As a leader in an AI company, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of AI tools in enhancing productivity and innovation. However, introducing these tools is just the first step; the real challenge lies in encouraging your team to adopt and integrate them into their daily workflows. Here are some actionable steps to foster an AI-driven culture within your organization that we've adopted at KeyReply: 1) Lead by Example: Demonstrate your commitment to AI by using these tools in your own work. Share your experiences and successes with the team to inspire them to explore AI applications in their roles. 2) Create a Safe Space for Experimentation: Encourage a culture of experimentation by allowing team members to try out different AI tools without the fear of failure. Host mini "AI Hackathons" where employees can try out new tools within 10-15 minutes, and let them know that trying new tools can be fast and efficient! 3) Establish Weekly/Monthly Sharing Sessions: Organize short, focused meetings where team members can share insights about the AI tools they are using. This not only keeps everyone updated on the latest developments but also encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration. 4) Integrate AI into Processes: Identify key processes within each function where AI can add value. Make the use of specific AI tools a non-negotiable part of these processes, ensuring that everyone understands the benefits and expectations. e.g. AI note-taking 5) Celebrate Successes: Recognize and celebrate instances where team members effectively use AI tools to solve problems or improve efficiency. This reinforces the value of AI and motivates others to follow suit. 6) Provide Training and Resources: Offer training sessions and pay for tools when the need arises. 7) Encourage Curiosity and Continuous Learning: Foster a mindset of curiosity by encouraging team members to explore new AI tools and share their findings. Create a shared document or platform where everyone can contribute their favorite tools and use cases. By implementing these strategies, we can create an environment where AI is not just a buzzword but a fundamental part of our daily operations. Let's empower our teams to harness the full potential of AI and drive our organization forward! 💡🤖 #AI #Leadership #TeamEmpowerment #Innovation #Productivity #KeyReply

ChatGPT is the new Excel. Here’s your first step toward AI. Many companies are racing to adopt AI, but the biggest opportunity often goes unnoticed: empowering your team with AI tools. It’s not just about building new AI products; it’s about integrating AI into the daily workflow of your employees. The tools—like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity—are available, but the knowledge gap is significant. While people experiment with these tools, few companies provide the right training to maximize their value. A well-trained workforce using AI effectively is a game changer. This skill set not only accelerates daily tasks but also builds the foundation for larger AI initiatives. Companies that fail to build this muscle now are not only leaving productivity gains on the table but also signaling to their most innovative employees that they’re not serious about AI. The wrong step? Banning AI tools like ChatGPT. The right step? Training employees on their effective use. Here’s what you need to be doing: 1 — Align on an AI Assistant (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, etc.) Start by choosing one of the key AI assistants—whether it’s ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity—or a combination of them. The great news is that all of these now offer enterprise-grade plans that help you manage your teams efficiently. Plus, they come with major certifications like SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, and CSA Star, ensuring compliance and security for your business. 2 — Make AI Part of Your Team’s Daily Toolkit Make it clear across your company: just as everyone uses a computer, email, PowerPoint, or Excel daily, AI assistants are going to be a prerequisite for everyday work. Part of becoming an AI-powered organization is ensuring these tools are integrated into everyone’s daily routine. 3 — Organize Structured Training Set up a comprehensive training program that teaches your employees how to work effectively with these tools. Focus on prompt engineering, real use cases, and practical examples. Just as important, provide clear guidelines on what not to do—such as entering sensitive IP or customer/employee information—to ensure proper usage and avoid risks. There’s a lot of FOMO out there, and many companies are rushing to figure out how to implement AI projects. But a prerequisite to all of this is having your workforce turbocharged and powered by AI assistants. Whether or not you end up building your own AI-powered features, this will help boost your team’s overall productivity. It will also build the familiarity and intuition your team will need for working with AI-powered services—or vendors who are leveraging this technology. All in all, it’s a win-win: a low-effort, low-cost, easy way to get started with AI adoption and transformation.

The Future of Teamwork is Human + AI, I just reviewed fascinating new Massachusetts Institute of Technology research by Prof Sinan Aral and Harang Ju on AI-human collaboration that has significant implications for innovation teams. Key findings from the study:- • Human-AI teams communicated 137% more than human-human teams. • Workers with AI partners focused 23% more on content generation. • Human-AI teams achieved 60% greater productivity per worker. • AI teams produced higher-quality text, while human teams created better images. • AI personality traits can be matched to complement human personalities for optimal results. Most remarkably, ads created by human-AI teams performed comparably to human-human teams in real-world tests with ~5M impressions! The researchers developed “MindMeld” - a collaboration platform enabling humans and AI agents to work together in real-time. Their field experiments revealed that AI agents reduce social coordination costs, letting humans focus more on creative output. As a builder and innovator working with agentic AI solutions, I find this research validates what I’ve experienced: the future isn’t about AI replacing humans, but about thoughtfully designing AI systems that complement human strengths. What’s your experience working with AI collaborators? Have you noticed changes in your productivity or communication patterns? #AICollaboration #FutureOfWork #AgenticAI #Innovation

AI isn't just a tool; it's becoming a teammate. A major field experiment with 776 professionals at Procter & Gamble, led by researchers from Harvard, Wharton, and Warwick, revealed something remarkable: Generative AI can replicate and even outperform human teamwork. Read the recently published paper here: In a real-world new product development challenge, professionals were assigned to one of four conditions: 1. Control Individuals without AI 2. Human Team R&D + Commercial without AI (+0.24 SD) 3. Individual + AI Working alone with GPT-4 (+0.37 SD) 4. AI-Augmented Team Human team + GPT-4 (+0.39 SD) Key findings: ⭐ Individuals with AI matched the output quality of traditional teams, with 16% less time spent. ⭐ AI helped non-experts perform like seasoned product developers. ⭐ It flattened functional silos: R&D and Commercial employees produced more balanced, cross-functional solutions. ⭐ It made work feel better: AI users reported higher excitement and energy and lower anxiety, even more so than many working in human-only teams. What does this mean for organizations? 💡 Rethink team structures. One AI-empowered individual can do the work of two and do it faster. 💡 Democratize expertise. AI is a boundary-spanning engine that reduces reliance on deep specialization. 💡 Invest in AI fluency. Prompting and AI collaboration skills are the new competitive edge. 💡 Double down on innovation. AI + team = highest chance of top-tier breakthrough ideas. This is not just productivity software. This is a redefinition of how work happens. AI is no longer the intern or the assistant. It’s showing up as a cybernetic teammate, enhancing performance, dissolving silos, and lifting morale. The future of work isn’t human vs. AI. The next step is human + AI + new ways of collaborating. Are you ready?

A new Harvard Business School study involving 700+ professionals at Procter & Gamble reveals AI is reshaping how teams work—moving to what researchers call a “cybernetic teammate.” Teams using AI (specifically ChatGPT-4 and 4o) consistently outperformed others, producing better solutions faster, while also fostering more cross-functional collaboration. AI broke down traditional silos, allowing people to contribute outside their usual expertise and enabling individuals to handle tasks that previously required entire teams. Interestingly, while AI users felt less confident, they did significantly better work and reported more positive emotions—hinting at a future where AI not only accelerates output but also improves the work experience. Key takeaway: Organizations that treat AI as just another tool are underestimating its impact. This study suggests we’re only seeing the floor of AI’s potential. As adoption and skills mature, the performance gap will widen—fast. The divide is no longer between teams—it's between those who embrace AI and those who don't. #ai
