Helping Organizations Build High-Performance Flexible Work Models | 25+ Years Transforming Cultures of Fortune 500 + Global Institutions | Thinkers 50 Thought Leader | Author | Futurist

This article in MIT Sloan Management Review on hybrid work by Nick Bloom, Prithwiraj Choudhury, and Brian Elliott confirms what we've been documenting for years: This isn't a location problem. It's a leadership capability gap. While too many executives still debate office attendance, their more forward-thinking, innovative competitors build the leadership AND operational capabilities that a high-performance flexible work model--not just "hybrid"--requires. The research and case studies that the article cites get critical points right: ✅ "To date, no peer-reviewed research shows a benefit to a rigid five-day office model." ✅ Synchrony's CEO focusing on measurable results over presence. ✅ Atlassian's teams creating working agreements. ✅ The reality that only 25% of managers of distributed teams get leadership training (and we wonder why they are reporting historically low levels of engagement and burnout!) But this alone doesn't close the capability gap. What I'm seeing in our work with organizations: 👉 Teams need more than permission to create norms. They need facilitation frameworks for making planning and coordination decisions within the context of broader organizational parameters that all levels of leadership have aligned behind. 👉 Managers need consistent protocols, tools and training to guide the conversations about how, when, and where their specific work gets done—not just implement generic policies. This includes defining: → How does work get prioritized and coordinated for your business? → When do teams need to be together in person, and not in person, to achieve specific outcomes? → In what spaces and places (in person and virtual) does different work happen most effectively given your constraints? The article does mention the importance of space redesign and technology but a high-performance flexible work model integrates technology capabilities, and workspace design into the defined parameters as one coordinated way of operating across places, spaces and time. This requires moving: ✅ From debating location to starting with the work and defining how, when and where that work happens best, and ✅ From treating flexibility as policy compliance to building it as strategic capability. The evidence is clear. The business case is proven. Organizations that build these operational and leadership capabilities have a competitive advantage and will outperform those still debating badge swipes. What's the biggest capability gap you're addressing to help your organization achieve high levels of sustainable performance working flexibly? #FutureOfWork #FlexibleWork #RTO #HybridWork #Leadership #WorkplaceStrategy #HighPerformanceFlexibility #ReimagineWork

𝟏𝟐 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐓𝐨 𝐂𝐮𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Cutting clutter and managing your time effectively is essential for productivity and overall well-being. Here are some strategies to help you cut down on clutter and make the most of your #time: ✅ 1. Set Clear Goals: Define your short-term and long-term #goals. This clarity helps you prioritize tasks and avoid distractions that don’t align with your objectives. ✅ 2. Prioritize Tasks: Use methods like the Eisenhower matrix (urgent-important matrix) to categorize tasks into four quadrants: urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important, neither urgent nor important. Focus on tasks in the important but not urgent quadrant to prevent last-minute rushes. ✅ 3. Declutter Your Physical Space: A clutter-free environment promotes focus. Regularly clean and organize your #workspace. Get rid of items you don’t need, and keep only what's essential. ✅ 4. Digital Decluttering: Organize your #digital files, emails, and apps. Unsubscribe from unnecessary email lists, delete apps you don’t use, and organize your files into folders for easy access. ✅5. Time Blocking: Allocate specific blocks of time for different tasks. Avoid #multitasking, as it often leads to inefficiency and mistakes. Concentrate on one task during each time block. ✅ 6. Learn to Say No: Don’t overcommit yourself. Learn to decline requests or tasks that don’t align with your priorities or goals. ✅ 7. Limit Distractions: Identify common distractions and find ways to limit them. This might mean turning off social media notifications, setting specific times for checking emails. ✅8. Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques, such as meditation, can enhance your focus and help you stay present. Regular #mindfulness practice can reduce mental clutter and improve your decision-making skills. ✅. 9. Regular Review: Regularly assess your goals and tasks. What worked yesterday might not work today. Be willing to #adapt and change your strategies based on what helps you be more productive. ✅ 10. Delegate and Outsource: Don’t be afraid to #delegate tasks if you have the option. Outsource tasks that are time-consuming but not necessarily within your expertise. This can free up your time for tasks that are more valuable to you. ✅ 11. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with productivity techniques and tools. Continuous learning helps you discover new methods to manage your time and reduce clutter effectively. ✅ 12. Practice Self-Care: Ensure you get enough rest, exercise, and relaxation. A healthy #lifestyle contributes significantly to your ability to manage clutter and time effectively. Cutting the clutter and managing time is an ongoing process. It requires consistent #effort and a willingness to #adapt. Start with small #changes, and over time, you'll find a routine that works best for you. #timemanagement

How to use AI in the boardroom: recent Amplifying Cognition guest Christian Stadler and Martin Reeves have shared in HBR lessons learned from applying AI in board meetings of Austrian sneaker manufacturer Giesswein. They designed and over one year tested three different AI interventions: 1️⃣Agenda prompting: AI generated discussion prompts and recommendations in real-time based on the meeting agenda. 2️⃣Live prompting: AI was used mid-meeting to generate ideas and suggestions in response to ongoing discussions. 3️⃣Post-meeting Q&A: AI answered executives’ follow-up questions after meetings, with and without human-guided prompting. Their studies revealed three major implications: 🤯 Disruption becomes a feature, not a bug. ChatGPT’s clumsy integration into meetings disrupted habitual thinking and prompted deeper reflection. This helped long-aligned executives surface blind spots and engage in more balanced, fact-based discussions—especially during emotionally loaded decisions. 🧠 Completeness illusion creates hidden risks. The broad scope of AI-generated suggestions gave a false sense of thoroughness, leading executives to overlook key issues like legal considerations. This highlighted the need for human critical thinking to challenge and complement AI outputs. ⚡ AI accelerates action and reduces overhead. AI helped executives make faster decisions by instantly supplying data, estimates, and even communication materials like press releases. This replaced tasks typically delegated to consultants or support teams, saving time and money. Their conclusions echoes my own experience: the greatest value comes from a human facilitator using the tools well, not the tools on their own. "What makes AI a valuable member of the executive team is that it is different from humans. This disrupts and therefore broadens the considerations—in some cases, providing information quickly to move forward. But for this to work, it needs a human (a critical thinker but not necessarily an industry expert) to operate the tool. The collective intelligence of the combination of humans and the tools offers something new and exciting."

Why Workspace Reservations Is Becoming the New “Must-Have” in Hybrid Work Hybrid work isn’t going anywhere. But the biggest challenge companies still face isn’t collaboration… it’s coordination. -Where are people working today? -Which teams are in the office tomorrow? -Can I sit near the snack room? That’s exactly where Zoom Workspace Reservations steps in and why more organizations are making it a core part of their workplace strategy. -What is Zoom Workspace Reservations? Zoom Workspace Reservations is an intelligent, map-based reservation system built directly into the Zoom platform. It allows employees to: ✔ Reserve desks, meeting rooms, and huddle spaces ✔ View real-time availability across floors and office locations ✔ Check in using QR codes ✔ See which teammates will be onsite ✔ Use interactive 3D floor maps for better wayfinding ✔ Manage reservations from the Zoom client or Outlook, whichever they prefer In short: it turns a confusing hybrid office into a predictable, flexible, employee-friendly experience. Organizations are under pressure to: -Optimize their real estate footprint -Increase in-office engagement (not mandate it) -Improve the employee experience without adding more tools -Manage hybrid scheduling without the chaos Zoom Workspace Reservations gives them a single, integrated solution that already lives where their users work — in the Zoom client and/or the Microsoft ecosystem via the Outlook add-in. (Yes I added the dash myself!) Microsoft has a solution too. It's called Microsoft Places except Microsoft Places requires a Teams Premium license. (That’s $10 per user/per month just to unlock hybrid workspace management.) Meanwhile… Zoom Workspace Reservations is INCLUDED. No add-on. No extra fee. No “Premium” upsell required. Companies trying to manage cost, simplify licensing, and deliver a great hybrid experience are recognizing how big of a difference that makes. If you’re exploring hybrid work strategy, real-estate optimization, or simply want a smarter way for your teams to coordinate office time… 👉 This is one feature you should absolutely be looking at. Stay sharp. Stay focused. Stay nerdy. The Tattooed Nerd

𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 ! 📈 Employees whose productivity has improved since the 2020 pandemic are 2× more likely to view their workplace as highly supportive compared to those whose productivity has declined. 🤝 Most employees come into the office to collaborate with their teams — yet the experience isn’t the same for everyone. 📉 Middle managers are over 3× more likely to say their productivity has dropped compared to senior management. 🔄 Among employees facing productivity decline, 53% want more personalized and flexible workplace experiences. 🤖 Today, 74% of senior management use AI & automation to get work done — compared to just 40% of junior staff, according to a new interesting research published by SBS-Global - Enabling Business Transformation in partnership with WORKTECH Academy using data from a survey of 570 workers spanning seven countries - the US, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan – and eight industries. Researchers found that difficulty focusing ranks as the top frustration with current office setups — followed closely by these other challenges: ❌ Limited flexibility in office attendance ❌Time wasted finding the right people or resources ❌Lack of available meeting rooms/collaboration space 5 ❌ Difficulty accessing technology & support ❌ Poor collaboration tools ☝️ 𝙈𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬: Technology, flexible work design, and organisational culture aren’t just “nice to have” — they are decisive performance enablers. The data makes it clear: when employees feel supported, equipped with the right tools, and trusted with flexibility, productivity soars. When those elements are missing, even the smartest tech can’t fill the gap. My recommendations:🌟 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: ➡️ Invest in thoughtful workplace design ➡️ Pair digital and AI tools with the training, policies, and culture ➡️ Preserve a hybrid work environment to give employees the flexibility they need to focus and collaborate effectively 🌟 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: ➡️ Model active, confident use of AI and automation to inspire adoption ➡️ Build a culture of trust ➡️ Create open channels for employees 🌟 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: ➡️ Highlight your organisation’s digital enablement and flexibility as key talent attractors ➡️ Seek candidates who are adaptable, tech‑curious, and comfortable with change 🙏Thank you SBS and WORKTECH Academy researchers team for sharing these insightful findings: Philip Ross Kursty Groves Markus Albers Kate Lister Elizabeth Leath 🔑 What does a truly “supportive workplace” look like to you, and how would you know you’ve found it? #ProductivityMatters #HighPerformanceCulture #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeExperience

xAI's Grok Studio Just Changed the Game for AI Collaboration Have you seen what xAI just unveiled? Grok Studio has arrived, and it's redefining what AI collaboration looks like. This isn't just another AI update—it's a creative workspace transformation. Imagine: full document generation, functioning code creation, comprehensive reports, and yes, even browser-based games—all through collaborative AI interaction. What stands out to me: * Seamless Google Drive integration for working with your existing files * Multi-format support for images and various file types * Live coding environments for Python, C++, Bash, and more * Split-screen previewing that shows results in real-time * HTML testing capabilities right in the workspace For professionals looking to accelerate their workflow, this convergence of coding, content creation, and AI assistance in a single platform represents a significant shift in how we might approach creative and technical projects. While Grok 3 was already making waves in the AI space, Grok Studio appears to be positioning xAI for the collaborative enterprise environment—a space currently dominated by other players. As business leaders and creators, we should be asking: How might this tool reshape our workflows? Could this type of AI collaboration become the new standard for teams? What are your thoughts? Would you incorporate Grok Studio into your professional toolkit? What specific use cases do you see for your industry? X Grok #AI #GrokStudio #xAI #AICollaboration #FutureOfWork #TechInnovation

🏢 Imagine a workplace that not only alerts you of problems, but also solves them in real time. I recently spoke with Vijay Sankaran, Chief Digital & Information Officer at Johnson Controls, about transforming smart spaces into autonomous systems. Here's what stood out: — Unified Value Stream: Vijay's team used OpenBlue to break down silos, creating a holistic digital platform. — AI in Action: From detecting faults to autonomously fixing them—machine learning, GenAI, and agentic workflows are changing the game. — Innovation from Within: JCI uses its own digital tools internally, which then fuel external customer innovation. Why it matters now: ► AI + sustainability = smarter energy use ► Workplace trends post-COVID still changing how we optimize space utilization ► Thought leadership: Vijay shares his journey on boards and the future role of quantum computing 💬 How is your organization shifting from monitoring systems to autonomous operations? Efficient energy management in workspaces shows how technology can shape more responsible business practices because it reduces waste, improves operational decisions, and strengthens the connection between economic performance and sustainability. When examining how smart sensors and connected systems are transforming buildings, we see more than just automation. We recognize the ability to understand usage patterns in real time, to adjust equipment schedules dynamically, and to reduce costs with targeted precision. These are measurable results that demonstrate the value of integrating intelligence into everyday operations. At the same time, sustainability goals gain practical support. Data-driven energy use reduces environmental impact while aligning with corporate ESG commitments. It is a concrete way to combine efficiency with responsibility, making workplaces more adaptive and future-ready. The question for business leaders is how quickly they are ready to embrace these solutions, because the benefits extend far beyond lower utility bills. They touch strategy, resilience, and the credibility of sustainability pledges. #Energy #DigitalTransformation #Sustainability #FutureOfWork

Zoom’s Boardroom of the Future raises significant issues about the future of displays in meeting and teaching spaces. Why? Let’s unpack a few things about their display and what it means for the future of presenting both content and remote participants. Zoom has clearly spent serious money on a  massive - and continuous - curved dvLED screen. This is a true Digital Canvas. It’s low luminance (‘brightness’) - and therefore naturalistic. Being a single piece the display sidesteps the classic problems of using twin displays and futureproofs against the inevitable twists and turns of changes to screen layouts and multi-camera demands. So let’s think about the whole Digital Canvas thing a little more. Overall display size is much larger than the minimum required. The resolution is above 4K and it’s not a 16:9 aspect ratio. The future of displays is not about the displays. It’s about the content. The good news is that you’ll be able to have whatever you want onscreen. The bad news is that having too much onscreen causes sensory overload and viewer fatigue. Information overdose. It’s about engaging with the content, engaging with the users and understanding what they need to see, how they need to see it - and when they need to see it. It’s about image processors and how you deploy them. How many windows? What size and in what position? For the hybrid platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google etc the screen layouts - and user choices - are going to be mission critical. The opportunities in meeting rooms are in the content and user experience. The threats in meeting and teaching spaces - especially at enterprise and campus level - lie in focusing on the hardware. There’s a metaphor and lesson in display technology’s exponential developments. As the pixels get smaller, you can no longer see them - and allows you to focus on the message, not the medium. #avtweeps #microsoftteamsrooms  #digitalcanvas #hybridmeetings #zoom #avusergroup  #ltsmg #schoms  #avixa #avmag

Everyone wants to be productive, but most people confuse being busy with getting things done. The secret? It’s not about working more—𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫. Here are five ways to boost your productivity without burning out. 1. 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮 Not every productivity tool will fit your workflow. Find the ones that simplify tasks instead of adding more to your plate. Whether it’s Notion for organizing ideas, Google Calendar for scheduling, or automation tools to handle repetitive work, let tech do the heavy lifting. 2. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 (𝐘𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲!) The brain works in cycles, not marathons. Research shows that working in 90-minute intervals with short breaks keeps you sharp. Try the Pomodoro technique—25 minutes of deep work followed by a 5-minute break—to stay focused without exhaustion. 3. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥. 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐱: 𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭: 𝐃𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐭. 𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭: 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐭. 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭: 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐭. 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐞. 4. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 Switching between tasks makes you slower, not faster. Instead, time-block your day—set dedicated hours for deep work, meetings, and admin tasks. Turn off notifications, put your phone away, and watch how much more you get done. 5. 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 A cluttered space leads to a cluttered mind. Keep your desk clean, invest in a good chair, and add a plant for a mood boost. If you work remotely, set up a distraction-free zone to create a mental boundary between work and home life. Productivity isn’t about doing more—𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭. #LinkedInInsiderIndia #LinkedInNewsIndia
