I reverse-engineer why B2B deals die (hint: buyer uncertainty, not price) | Building self-service revenue systems that buyers actually prefer

I just got off a call with a founder who's been "thinking about LinkedIn" for 8 months. His competitor - with an inferior product - just snatched from him yet another opportunity before closure. My prospect learned that competitor's visibility and credibility played a role in closing key deals just like this one. Another prospect on slack channel shared something about the competitor like "His insights on subject matter convinced them that he really gets their challenges and been a specialist in it for long." This founder I met has better technology, more funding, and a stronger team. But his competitor has something more valuable - "visible authority" While my prospect was perfecting his product in stealth mode, his competitor was "building trust" at scale. Here's what I told him... "Your product solves the problem. But your competitor's LinkedIn presence proves he understands it." In B2B tech, buyers don't just evaluate solutions - they evaluate the people behind them. They want to work with experts, not vendors. I've watched this play out across 90+ companies. The founders who build visible authority early don't just grow faster - they grow more profitably. They spend less on ads, hire fewer reps, and close deals faster because prospects arrive pre-sold. The hardest part isn't creating content. It's accepting that while you're building the perfect product, someone else is building the perfect reputation. Your expertise deserve an audience. Your insights deserve visibility. Your company deserves the advantage that comes with being seen as the industry authority. The question isn't whether LinkedIn authority matters. It's whether you'll build it before your NEXT competitor does. #SocialSelling #GTM #B2BSales #RevenueEngine #AuthorityBuilding #ContentMarketing #LinkedInMarketing #LinkedIn #SaaS #B2B

Top Ecommerce Email Marketer | $200M+ Generated via Email

We grew an email list from 0 to 500K subscribers in just 10 months. If I were starting from scratch today, here's exactly how I'd do it again: 1) Nail the Lead Magnet: The fastest way to grow your email list is by offering something valuable in exchange for an email. Think of it like this: people won't give up their email for nothing. Create something they can't ignore: a discount, exclusive content, or a tool they can’t find elsewhere. For us, offering free travel guides was a game-changer. 2) Optimize for Opt-Ins Everywhere: Your website, blog, and even social media accounts should work like opt-in machines. For example: - Add pop-ups and fly outs on key pages. - Place CTAs above the fold. - Use scroll-triggered modals when visitors are engaged. We tested endlessly, and this attention to detail paid off big. 3) Tap Into Paid Growth Early: Ads get a bad rep, but when done right, they’re a growth accelerant. We launched targeted ads promoting our lead magnet and built a funnel that turned traffic into email signups. Paid campaigns helped us scale fast while testing which offers resonated with our audience. 4) Partner with the Right People: Collaborations can grow your list faster than any single effort. Whether it’s co-branded giveaways, email swaps, or shoutouts, find brands or creators that share your target audience. A well-executed partnership will unlock exponential growth. One really unique thing we did: We bought a bunch of viral social accounts and rebranded them for our business. This was huge in kickstarting massive and sustainable growth. And we fast-tracked the social proof we needed to build trust and scale quickly. 5) Focus on Quality, Not Just Quantity: A big list is meaningless without engagement. From Day 1, we focused on high-value emails to ensure subscribers opened, clicked, and stayed. Here’s a pro tip: Consistency wins. Sending emails weekly or bi-weekly keeps your list warm and engaged. 6) Build a Content Machine: Pair email growth with an organic content strategy that feeds your funnel. Blog posts, social media, and SEO aren’t just good for traffic—they create trust. The more valuable content you share, the more people will want to hear from you. 7) Leverage Cheap Marketing Channels in Ways Others Haven’t: This is going to ruffle some feathers but we absolutely dominated cold email for user acquisition. To the tune of 6 figure subscriber acquisition. No one was doing cold email for B2C the way we did it. This proved to be the most scalable yet cheapest acquisition channel we had. — To recap: - Offer something valuable for free to grow your list. - Use every channel—paid and organic—to drive opt-ins. - Build relationships with partners who already have your audience. The result? A system that scales. Your list is the one asset you fully own—start building it ASAP!

I'm surprised more people don't start their own coaching or consulting business using LinkedIn. So many of my corporate friends have incredible expertise. They solve complex problems daily, lead teams, drive results. But when I suggest they could turn that into a coaching or consulting business, the response is always the same: "Who would pay me for what I already know?" And then there are the coaches I know who already started their business but are stuck in feast-or-famine mode. Great at what they do, but struggling to get clients consistently. Here's what I've learned after working with both groups: Your expertise isn't the problem. The challenge is that most of us were never taught how to package our knowledge or consistently find the people who need it. That's where LinkedIn comes in. I used to think LinkedIn was just for job hunting. Turns out, it's the best place to connect with people who have the exact problems you've been solving for years. It is THE best place to build a coaching business organically (no ads required). A few months ago, I teamed up with other successful 6/7-figure coaches Adam Broda, Daniel Botero and launched something called the LinkedIn Coaches Accelerator - a 12-week program to help people turn their expertise into a thriving coaching business using LinkedIn. Some highlights from our first cohort blew us away: -Someone landed 25 clients -Another client made $30K while in the program -Several people landed their first $5K-$25K clients within weeks One person 2x’d their followers and increased their LinkedIn reach by 18,279% (yes, this number is correct) On average, people in our first cohort got an average of 4 high-ticket clients while working with us. The common thread? They all started where you might be right now…either thinking about coaching or struggling to get consistent clients. We're now accepting applications for our second cohort. It's designed for two types of people: → Corporate professionals ready to monetize their expertise → Existing coaches who want consistent client flow (no more feast or famine) What we cover: → How to package your experience into something people will pay for  → LinkedIn strategies that feel authentic (no sales-y tactics)  → How to have sales conversations that don't make you cringe  → Building a business that works around your life, not the other way around Our promise: Help you land 3 clients in 12 weeks, or we keep working with you until you do. If you've been thinking about this transition or you're tired of the client rollercoaster, now might be the time. Application here → https://lnkd.in/gzY6-yYj P.S. I'm dropping my LinkedIn strategy guide below.  Use what helps, ignore what doesn't. Just wanted to share what's been working! ⬇️

Many financial advisors struggle to build a strong social media brand. But you don’t have to be one of them. When I first started, my social media presence was stagnant. But I quickly realized how crucial it is to build trust and credibility online For financial advisors, it's especially important to understand that your audience values authenticity and expertise above all else. I knew I needed a better strategy to grow on social media. So, I worked hard to understand my audience and experimented with different types of content. Over time, I figured out what works, and now I’m sharing these strategies with you. ✅ Share Your Daily Habits: → Let people in on the routines that shape your day and your financial expertise → Authenticity helps build a stronger connection with your clients. ✅ Highlight Your Unique Traits: → Make sure your posts reflect your true personality and financial philosophy. → Be yourself; it’s the best way to stand out in the crowded market. ✅ Understand Your Audience: → Get to know your clients' needs and connect with them on a deeper level. →Tailor your content to what they find valuable and interesting. ✅ Be Open About Your Thoughts: → Share your decision-making process and market insights. → Transparency fosters trust and credibility in your financial advice. ✅ Show Your Passion: → Don’t hesitate to be emotionally open about why you do what you do. → Genuine emotions resonate deeply and build loyalty. ✅ Engage Consistently: → Regular interaction builds trust and familiarity. → Make engagement a daily habit to stay top of mind. ✅ Share Success Stories: →Highlight your clients' achievements and how you helped them reach their goals. → Real success stories motivate potential clients and provide valuable insights. ✅ Provide Value: → Offer actionable insights or tips that can help your audience in their financial journey. → Valuable content keeps your audience coming back for more. Your authenticity is your strongest asset. Use it to build real connections and make a lasting impact. How do you keep your social media content engaging and authentic? P.s. ✍🏻 I am Benjamin Loh, CSP, a strategic growth coach and consultant who has taught over 65,000 leaders in over 20 global cities and constructed some of the leading icons (TOT, Award Winners) in the financial industry in Asia through the power of authentic storytelling and authority building. 💪 Enjoy this post? “𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 (𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁)” People often ask me: “Why did you start posting on LinkedIn?” Here’s my honest answer: Because I’ve always been a creator, just not always online. In school, I was the one scripting plays. In college, I led content team, wrote reports, drafted event content, and crafted messages that moved people. So when I came across LinkedIn in my second year, I didn’t overthink it. I just started writing. And it changed everything. What started as casual reflection soon became a gamechanger: ✅ I found people who think like me ✅ I built a personal brand, before I even got my first job ✅ I learned to structure thoughts clearly (which helped me a LOT in consulting) ✅ I started getting inbound work + collaboration requests ✅ I built writing discipline, one post at a time I didn’t wait to be an “expert” to post. I wrote about: What I was learning, What no one told me about careers, What I was curious about in research & consulting And people related. That’s when I realised: You don’t need to be famous to be valuable. You just need to be helpful. If you’re thinking of writing on LinkedIn, here’s what worked for me: 📌 Don’t try to sound smart. Try to sound clear. 📌 Don’t wait for a milestone, document the process. 📌 Don’t chase reach. Focus on resonance. 📌 Don’t treat it like a résumé. Treat it like a conversation. It’s been almost 4-5 years of writing. Today, my posts have not just helped me reflect, they’ve helped me connect. With clients. With recruiters. With collaborators. All because I dared to type the first line. ✨ Thinking of writing on LinkedIn? Here’s your sign. Start small. Stay consistent. Watch what happens. #LinkedInWriting #ThoughtLeadership #ContentForCareer #ResearchAnalyst #ConsultingLife #WritingAsASkill #PersonalBranding #EarlyCareerInsights #LinkedInGrowth

Just did an hour with a Partner at one of the big consulting firms. Their challenge hit close to home: "We have 500 consultants with incredible expertise. But when clients Google them before meetings, they find nothing. Meanwhile, boutique firms with 20 people are everywhere - speaking at events, posting insights, building relationships." He dropped numbers that made me pause: • Average consultant has 2,000+ LinkedIn connections • Combined network reach: 1M+ decision makers • Current LinkedIn activity: Near zero • Lost deals to smaller firms: "More than we'd like to admit" The Partner's exact words: "Our people solve $10M problems daily. But online? We're invisible. And in consulting, invisible means irrelevant." What struck me wasn't the problem. It was their solution attempt: They’ve hired a social media manager. Created templates. Ran training sessions. Built approval processes. Result? 3% adoption after 6 months. Because here's what big consulting misses: Your consultants don't need more training. 👉🏽 They need systems that work at the speed of consulting 👈🏽 When you're billing $500/hour, spending 2 hours crafting a LinkedIn post isn't just inefficient; it's business malpractice. The firms winning the visibility game aren't asking their people to become content creators. They're building infrastructure that turns expertise into influence without the time tax. Because in professional services, your people ARE your product. And if your product is invisible? You're just another logo on a slide deck.

Management consulting partners: don’t be a grey suit on LinkedIn. Personality and authenticity are your key to engaging conversations. How many of you find it hard to express yourselves authentically on LinkedIn? Judging by a quick sampling of profiles, it seems to be the majority. We thrive on the impact our work creates, and we don’t shy away from confidently stating our recommendations to clients. But when it comes to LinkedIn, most of us are either inactive or find comfort in re-sharing standardized impersonal posts. Yet the data suggests the opposite behaviour is what’s needed: Trust is personal. 74% of people are more likely to trust someone with a strong personal brand. Authenticity isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a differentiator. People share people, not brands. Employee posts get 5x more reach and 24x more re-shares than company posts.  That’s engagement driven by personal connection. The C-suite is leading by example. C-suite posts get 4x more engagement than average content. Why? Because people want to hear your view, not just your firm’s boilerplate update. Being authentic isn’t just good for your personal brand, it’s good for business. So, instead of posting another dry statement with the charm of a bowling ball, try this: Inject personality into professionalism. Credibility is key, but so is not sounding like a corporate bot. Relatable anecdotes or lessons learned make your content memorable. Showcase expertise through insights. Share thoughtful perspectives on your industry, backed by data or personal experience. Engage meaningfully with your network. Respond to comments, participate in discussions, and recognize others’ contributions. We are a people business, built on trust and relationships. Make sure your LinkedIn presence is as impactful as your boardroom advice. What’s one thing you’d change about your LinkedIn posts based on this approach? #Consulting #Authenticity #Connection

I’m leaving LinkedIn. No, it’s not a hook. After trying for a year, building: - Impressive numbers of network, - Good engagement, - Followers, I don’t generate business. I don’t convert clients. I don’t make money. That’s what one of my clients said exactly three months ago. Ok, so I can’t name the client because I’m paid for an NDA. But I can share the problems he had. This client is into B2B. He has a good business that doesn’t come from LinkedIn, FYI. He and his team had been building his LinkedIn for 2 years. He had already built: - 20k+ connections, - An average of 200 engagements on his posts, - A few inbound leads, which never converted. I audited his profile, content, and activities, and here’s what I realized: - He was sharing content available on the internet nothing original or unique. - His posts were about viral trends, quotes, and videos that got thousands of likes but did NOT build credibility or authority in his industry. He wasn’t positioning himself as a thought leader. He was chasing numbers, not results. I started working with him, and within 3 months: - We changed his content strategy completely. - He started getting 20+ qualified leads every month. - These leads turned into real cash—actual deals. Now, he’s super happy, and we’ll work for another year! Build authority. Build credibility. Build authenticity. What to Do to Build Authority on LinkedIn: 1. Stop chasing likes. Focus on positioning yourself as an expert. 2. Share your point of view. Don’t repeat what’s already on the internet. 3. Post with purpose. Create content aligned with your niche and audience’s needs. 4. Show up regularly to build trust over time. 5. Engage strategically. 6. Share case studies or testimonials that highlight your work and impact. 7. Optimize your profile. Make sure it reflects your expertise and how you can help others. What NOT to Do: 1. Don’t share generic or copied content. 2. Don’t rely on viral posts—they don’t bring long-term results. 3. Don’t connect with everyone. Be selective and intentional. 4. Don’t sell in every post. Build trust first. 5. Don’t ignore comments or messages—engage and build relationships. --- If you’re wondering, “Does viral content really matter?” Here’s the truth: It’s not about going viral; it’s about building credibility, trust, and business. Are you building authority or chasing numbers? Feel free to reach out to me I build brand that generates businesses! What do you think about, LinkedIn videos? P.S. For my client we got 10M impressions from 5 videos only but for me it didn’t happen yet 😂 #linkedin #personalbranding #linkedinmarketing #leadgeneration

At 27, I left my 6-figure role at Miro without a plan B. Here’s what happened next → - I made an announcement on LinkedIn  - Gained eyeballs from companies like Intercom and Grammarly - Said no to full-time. Used the moment for soft pitches - Manychat became my first advisory client - The rest became long-term relationships - Launched a podcast and invited them to share knowledge - Built credibility + experience through it - Invested time in a high-value lead magnet (Growthmates Playbook) - Launched it free → ~2,000 subscribers joined - Turned them into warm leads → which led to clients If you’re in the same place, here’s a 60-day roadmap 👇 Weeks 1-2: Clarity - Choose 1–2 themes you’d happily study for years. - Not “what’s trending.” What you can’t stop researching. This becomes your voice. Weeks 3-4: Announce yourself - Post your “I’ve left / I’m building” announcement. - Don’t make it vague. Defining your clear positioning is key. - Eg: I positioned myself as an expert in PLG ✕ UX intersection. Weeks 5-6: Run a referral sprint - Reach out to 10 people you know and trust. - Ask for introductions to 1–2 people who’d benefit from your skills. - Warm intros have a high chance of conversion. That’s how you land your first clients without aggressive cold DMs. This moment is a magnet for opportunities. Weeks 7-8: Build your first asset - Create a lead magnet (playbook/teardown). - Make it Free - this is about awareness building. - What matters is proving people want your way of thinking. Main takeaway? - Announcements done right = free and relevant inbound. - Invest time in high-value assets for your audience. - Relationships scale further than transactions. Sometimes, no plan B is all you need to figure it out 😉 P.S. Planning to become a solopreneur? Drop your questions in the comments. Everyone wants to be seen as an “authority” on LinkedIn but most people go about it the wrong way. A client asked me recently, “How do I become a go-to voice in my industry?” It made me reflect on my own journey. When I started posting, I was everywhere and nowhere at the same time random topics, no focus, no structure. The moment I got intentional, everything changed. My content started landing. My audience grew. My inbound DMs increased. Here’s what actually worked 1️⃣ Pick your lane and own it I stopped chasing trends and focused on one core theme personal branding and social media strategy. Clarity attracts the right audience. Confusion repels them. 2️⃣ Educate to elevate Don’t just share information transfer knowledge. Break things down. Explain why it matters. Help your audience do something with it. 3️⃣ Tell stories that stick People forget stats but remember how you made them feel. I shared lessons from my own journey real wins, real fails and that’s what made people relate. 4️⃣ Create for your audience, not your ego Your content should solve their problems, not showcase your expertise. The more specific you get, the faster you attract ideal clients. 5️⃣ Consistency compounds Authority isn’t built overnight. It’s the result of showing up even when engagement is low, ideas feel stale, or motivation dips. Bonus Tip: Build before you broadcast. Comment on others’ posts. Add thoughtful insights. Collaborate. You can’t build authority in isolation community multiplies your credibility.
