I’m a founder about to take #matleave, how am I using #AI to support this transition?
🧪 First experiment: Build a simple Slack auto-responder for anyone who sends me a direct message while I am out
- It’s easy & natural to have an email auto responder setup for leave
- I can OOO auto decline all meetings from my Google calendar
- But, Women Defining AI operates primarily in Slack, and while you can set slackbot to trigger custom responses to specific words… there’s actually no easy way to personally auto-respond to anyone who sends you a direct message (I know, surprised me too)
So I used Cursor AI & Railway to vibe code and host a simple slackbot that responds on my behalf IN that same direct message.
Since I also get member direct messages that are mostly questions (and not sensitive because we operate very transparently in the community), I also set the automate to route those DMs to WDAI leaders…in case are important and timely member questions that I don’t want to get lost.
Just a quick evening project! 🤩
One step closer to being prepped for mat leave as a founder. What other good tools or ideas 💡 have you all seen? I’m excited to #BuildInPublic and create a few more automation systems to support my time off!
I’m honestly deeply enjoying building out these micro solutions for myself and workflows 💜
