Aviation’s path to net zero depends on solutions that are not just available, but trusted. Continuing last year’s progress, Avelia’s 2025 SAF book and claim retirements have now been verified by LRQA, an independent assurance provider*. The review, conducted to a level of limited assurance, confirms: ✈️ The total amount of SAF injected into the existing aviation fuelling network, as well as the resulting tonnes abated 🔎 Consistent application of Avelia’s SAF carbon accounting methodology 🔄 Controls to help prevent double counting 📄 Robust data handling and documentation of environmental attributes information (DEAs and PTDs) 🌍 Alignment with ‘SAF GHG Emission Accounting and Insetting Guidelines (2021)’ developed by the Smart Freight Centre (SFC) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Centre for Transportation and Logistics. This verification strengthens confidence in Avelia’s approach and supports the wider adoption of book and claim as a credible pathway for reducing aviation emissions. In 2025, 80.85% of Shell’s global investments included oil & gas, 9.58% included low-carbon energy solutions and 9.58% non-energy products. Shell’s target is to become a net-zero emissions (NZE) energy business by 2050. Disclaimers, including NZE target: https://lnkd.in/eZvbz8UR.

Avelia, our book and claim platform aimed at scaling SAF across the sector, has reached a new milestone in its evolution towards becoming an industry solution – the creation of the Avelia Multilateral Governance Committee (AMGC). 🤝 By introducing multi-party governance, Avelia strengthens the transparency and credibility of its operating model through independent oversight. With the establishment of the AMGC, Avelia meets all 11 Principles and Best Practices for Book and Claim Systems in Heavy Transport, developed by the Book and Claim Community. The inaugural committee brings together Shell, Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) (SABA represented by the Center for Green Market Activation, secretariat for SABA), Airlines for America (A4A), Global Business Travel Association Foundation (GBTA Foundation), and American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT), with membership expected to expand as the platform grows. Together, they will guide the direction and evolution of the Avelia Rulebook – helping users access critical technical information, supporting its application in practice and ensuring alignment with relevant industry standards and practices. 👉 To learn more about the role and responsibilities of the AMGC, visit: https://https://lnkd.in/gGptm_mA In 2025, 80.85% of Shell’s global investments included oil & gas, 9.58% included low-carbon energy solutions and 9.58% non-energy products. At Shell Aviation, we’re helping to accelerate aviation decarbonisation through Avelia, our book and claim platform that enables airlines and corporations to access and potentially benefit from the life cycle GHG emissions reduction benefits of SAF*. Each year, Avelia’s journey has been defined by growth and strong customer adoption, but 2025 was an outstanding one. Since its launch in 2022, Avelia has helped inject over 64 million gallons of SAF into the aviation fuelling network, helping to accelerate SAF adoption. Explore the video below for more numbers showing Avelia’s impact at an industry level and contact us to see how Avelia can support your energy transition journey: https://lnkd.in/g6mKTW2A #SustainableAviation #NetZero *Compared to conventional jet fuel In 2025, 80.85% of Shell’s global investments included oil & gas, 9.58% included low-carbon energy solutions and 9.58% non-energy products. Air freight is on a steep emissions trajectory, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) remains one of the most powerful levers to bend the curve. But how do you cut aviation emissions when SAF is scarce and at least twice the price of conventional jet fuel? Book and claim offers a workable bridge, helping scale SAF’s impact long before supply catches up. Last year, Avelia partnered with MIT Technology Review Insights and hosted a webinar featuring leaders from Shell Aviation, DHL Express, and Smart Freight Centre, bringing together perspectives from across the value chain on the role SAF could play in air freight decarbonisation. You can now explore this topic in a dedicated article. As 2025 wraps up, we’re reflecting on a year full of significant developments for Avelia. One defined by industry collaboration, technological evolution, and meaningful progress in scaling sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This year, Avelia: ✔️ Was successfully reaudited following the approach of ISO 14064-3, reconfirming the transparency and accuracy of its SAF carbon accounting methodology. ✔️ Continued to enhance the transparency of its customer documentation. ✔️ Evolved from a single-supplier platform to a multi-supplier industry solution featuring independent data hosting and broader supplier choice. This included welcoming Moeve, a global energy company, as Avelia’s first external SAF supplier. ✔️ Supported Kintetsu World Express (KWE), Japan’s first air freight specialist and a leading global freight forwarder, in advancing the use of SAF for air freight. ✔️ Successfully injected over 60 million gallons of SAF into the existing aviation fueling system.* These achievements build on Avelia’s mission: to help accelerate the adoption of SAF and support aviation decarbonisation. Thank you to all our collaborators and customers for your trust throughout 2025. Here’s to a 2026 filled with innovation and continued progress. *As of December 10th 2025 Cautionary note: https://lnkd.in/gPvtdC2c

Corporate travel is at a turning point. As pressure mounts to reduce their life cycle GHG emissions, companies are looking for credible, scalable pathways towards decarbonising travel. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is one of the immediate tools available, and models like book and claim are making it more widely accessible. At Shell Aviation, we believe scaling SAF requires collaboration across the ecosystem – from corporations and business travellers to fuel producers, airlines and technology providers – to create strong, consistent demand signals. That’s why we’ve been engaging with the business travel community at GBTA Denver and GBTA Europe this year, bringing this conversation to life and highlighting how corporate travel programmes can become a powerful lever for climate progress. Check out our latest article, where Nora Lovell Marchant, Esq., VP Global Sustainability at American Express Global Business Travel, Fannélie GERARD, Managing Director at Accenture Strategy and Sriram Musunuri, Global Head of Sustainability at Shell Aviation share key takeaways and actionable insights on decarbonising business travel from an education session we held in Denver, “Building the Business Case for Aviation GHG reduction your C-Suite will Love.” 👉 Read the article: https://lnkd.in/g9fQ7S6u #SAF #BookandClaim #Scope3 #Aviation #BusinessTravel #Decarbonisation Cautionary note: https://lnkd.in/gHKKWF-f
