Congratulations to Jude Sanborn, recipient of the $5,000 Daniel Clapp Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by RMI, for the 2025–2026 school year! Jude is a senior at Virginia Tech pursuing a Bachelor of Science in industrial and systems engineering with a minor in statistics. He serves as the professional development chair for Alpha Pi Mu and an ambassador for the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, where he gives tours of facilities like the Learning Factory laboratory. One of Jude’s most notable accomplishments was coordinating Big Plant, a campus-wide annual sustainability event hosted by the Environmental Coalition at Virginia Tech. As a Big Plant coordinator, he secured $13,000 in funding and helped plant over 10,000 tress across campus. In the summer of 2024, Jude interned at Newport News Shipbuilding investigating material loss challenges and analyzing SAP shop data to identify root causes. Using Power BI, he developed data-driven solutions that led to $400 in daily savings. His interest in supply chain efficiency began during his time at Cardinal Home Center, a building supply retailer, where he managed product deliveries and gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of inventory management and maintaining optimal stock levels. In his senior year, Jude will be completing his senior design capstone course by working directly with a company in the supply chain industry. After graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in operations research and is also considering a Ph.D. Jude is excited to explore the various sectors within the industry and discover where his skills and passions best align. We’re proud to celebrate Jude’s accomplishments and are grateful to the members of the RMI Rack Safety group for supporting the next generation of supply chain and logistics professionals. #MHEFI #SupplyChain #IndustrialEngineering
