📢 Call for Papers in Frontiers in Neurology Epidemiology of Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Multiple sclerosis is a leading cause of non-traumatic neurological disability in young adults, yet its incidence and prevalence vary dramatically across geographic regions, ancestry groups, and sexes. Recent data suggest that MS burden is rising globally, often driven by higher rates among women, and that regions like the Middle East and North Africa are facing a rapidly growing burden that remains poorly characterized. But how much of this rise reflects true changes in risk, and how much is shaped by earlier diagnosis, better imaging access, and longer survival on disease-modifying therapies? That’s the question at the heart of this Research Topic, published in the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology section of Frontiers in Neurology (IF: 2.8), with Frontiers in Immunology (IF: 5.9) also participating. We welcome submissions on topics including: 🌍 Population-based incidence and prevalence studies with transparent case ascertainment 👩🔬 Analyses stratified by sex, age, ancestry, and geography, including changing female-to-male ratios 📈 Time-trend and birth-cohort studies parsing true risk vs. earlier detection vs. improved survival 🧬 Gene–environment interactions and plausible determinants such as infection-related exposures, migration, and vitamin D 🏥 Health services and access research, including diagnostic delay and disparities in MS care 📊 Methodology papers on diagnostic drift, ascertainment bias, and cross-region harmonization Regional data from underrepresented settings, including MENA, are especially encouraged. Multiple article types are accepted: Original Research, Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Methods, Hypothesis and Theory, Policy and Practice Reviews, and more. 📅 Manuscript submission deadline: 9 October 2026 👉 https://lnkd.in/gkfg7_xh If you’re working in MS epidemiology, we’d love to feature your research.
