Your Marketing Skillbuilding Action Plan
You may have found some time in your days, nights or weekends to level up your marketing skills.
It has been great to see marketers far and wide posting their certifications.
Certifications are great if you are applying the knowledge that you just gained.
Smart marketers are always thirsty not just to learn, but also execute.
You can set a plan that will not only be easy to follow, but will let your measure your results.
Here are the 3 key stages for building an actionable marketing skill building plan…
1. Plan the Action.
Identify where your skills gaps exist.
Develop SPECIFIC goals and actions for the next 3 weeks and 3 months.
This allows for accountability in near term and long term.
Easier said than done, right?
The key tip making sure your plan does actually ’stick’, is to be accountable.
Again, easier said than done, right?
Establish an ACCOUNTABILITY LOOP. Find the person that can follow up on your progress and expect to hear from you as you complete your actions.
Who can you define as your Accountability partner? Co-worker? Family member? Former Boss? Email them today :)

2. Developing Your Marketing Skills
Embrace the learning pyramid - watching content is not as effective as actually teaching it.
The 3-step model is Watch one, Do one and Teach one (aka WoDoTo).
For example...
So, you may WATCH a YouTube video on how to set up a Facebook Ad campaign.
Then you complete the Facebook Blueprint Certification (DO), or run a small $50 test on your personal brand site (DO)
Finally, you do a screen share with a co worker or record a video walking through how you set up your Facebook Ad test campaign (TEACH).
Think about it. If you only watched thee video and got a certification...did you truly learn that skill?

3. Deliver Business Impact With Your Skills
A new marketing skill is a great example of career currency.
If you do not measure the competency of your skill, does it even really matter that you gained it in the first place?
Often times, we forget or are too humble to mention our new skill.
Time to change that.
Follow a simple two-step plan to showcase the impact of your newly learned skills.
First, be proactive. Like asking someone for clarity on the expected outcomes.
Second, document and share. Update your manager, resume and linkedin profile.
