Truth
Sometimes the truth really hurts. In many ways the things we see or the acts that happen around us can easily be demotivating. Co-workers that talk or spread rumors. Work that is beneath us but that is assigned to us. Working with people who really are not up to the task, but get the job anyway. (The old manager from the place that shall not be named)But all in all what really hurts is this, "No matter how good you are, you can always be replaced."
Harsh? Yes, but many companies find the true. Many companies project and say this to every person so that way they get the hard work they need out of people. Many companies make sure that management, or what ever they call them, also makes this a mantra to get them to spread this disease to employees under them. Why? To get the work they need out of the people. To make sure they instill fear which in turn gets a false loyalty. If you want to burn people out then by all means please try this in the company you have. If you want to have a great team, a hard working unit, (yeah I said it), and a workplace that is more like a home than an office then you may want to think differently. So many companies have already tried and done this, and they always wonder why is retaining people so hard. But if you nurture, guide and help people grow then you will see a company full of great people.
The truth is you cannot be replaced. Someone could try to do what you do, but they will never ever be as awesome as you. Remember this, a company can hire many people that fit what they think fit's the position, but no one can be you.
