How to Find & Network with Alumni - Span the Globe & Land Your Next Role
Connecting with Alumni on LinkedIn is an incredible resource to strengthen networking opportunities in an Executive Job Search!
Recently, a client asked me how to research former classmates on LinkedIn and even find people that graduated from other schools. With most successful executive job searches resulting from referrals, networking and introductions, this is a valuable tool to expand your network, and I encourage you to give it a try.
Don't wait for your next reunion. Has it been postponed indefinitely, like mine? Find and connect with these people now. It will be fun to reach out and may just lead to landing your next opportunity!
Did you know this research tool includes where Alumni live AND where they work?
By researching Alumni, you can learn about their industry expertise, background and location to see if they are working at one of your top tier target companies and/or in the same industry. They just might be able to open doors and introduce you to the right people that would be beneficial to your job search.
Here are steps to research Alumni on LinkedIn - It's an easy 1-2-3 punch!
- Type in the university name in the search bar
- Once on the university page on LinkedIn, click the Alumni tab.
- Once on the Alumni section, you can search via keywords: Title, Company and Graduation years - then scroll down to see the list of all that meet that criterion.
- You can also scroll sideways with results that show up with these columns - Where They Live / Where They Work / What They Do / What They Studied / What They are Skilled At / How You are connected
Good luck with your networking and executive job search!
