Second Effort

When an offensive player on a football field gets hit, he could go down. Sometimes he does.

But if it’s possible, he'll give what’s often called a “second effort.”

When given the opportunity for a second effort, the player make further gains. Those further gains — no matter how small — gets their team that much closer to their goal (which is to score).

When we take on a task or a project, the first effort might only get us so far.

It’s that second effort that propels things forward that much further.

So the next time the first effort stalls — either by a distraction or a diversion that you encounter during the course of your day — do your best to give that second effort as soon as possible. You might just get the momentum you need to make greater gains towards your desired goal.
