My Next Great Adventure
Friends,
I am very pleased to be able to share my next great adventure. Perhaps you know someone who wants to come along?
I spent ten great years with New Relic, starting with a stalwart handful in a tiny, borrowed office at Benchmark Capital. This was the first step on the way to becoming a public company with well over a thousand people in ten countries across the globe. I am particularly proud that we were able to manage this growth while also maintaining a culture where people really could “Come for the work. Stay for the awesome.”
When I re-launched HR Futures almost year ago, I thought that was to be the rest of the story for me. Then I got a call from Duo Security. OMG. State of the art SaaS cybersecurity. Unicorn growing ARR >2x for each of the last handful of years. Visionary founder team that, despite over 10K corporate customers, is continuously breaking new ground. All while setting the standard for customer service -- Duo really is, as they like to say, “The most loved company in security.”
And loved by employees, as well. They have a 4.6 rating on Glassdoor, where 93% of respondents recommend Duo to friends as a place to work. Duo was #18 (out of >25,000!) on LinkedIn’s Top Startup Companies -- what LinkedIn refers to as the “super magnets” for great talent. And we will need to be that super magnet when looking toward another year where the company intends to grow by >50%.
I am delighted to have joined Duo as their SVP of People.* And I am honored to be able to work with the VP People, Ambrosia Vertesi, who decided to focus this stage of her career on strategic talent growth initiatives. We have a great People team that continues to grow in Ann Arbor, Austin, London, and San Francisco (in case you know someone amazing…).
I happily trekked the frozen streets of Ann Arbor in early January to join the Duo global all-hands meeting, and to celebrate the start of both a new year and a new great adventure!
Does anyone want to come along?
*For those of you scheduled to attend a presentation or training that I am doing through HR Futures, do not fret. Those will continue as scheduled.
