Lockheed Martin One Year Anniversary

Today (10.07.20), I officially hit my One Year Anniversary with Lockheed Martin. For some it’s just a year, for me it’s a milestone.

During presentations and workshops, I always talk about “The Iceberg Illusion.”

After retiring from the Air Force, it was not an easy path for Samantha, my family or for me.

I never understood what MilSpouses go through until I retired from the Air Force - I honestly thought I did... Yet, moving to a new city, a new state - starting from scratch?!

Now I do...

First off - I must confess - I didn’t think it would be “from scratch,” I was told every company is chomping at the bit to hire a Military Recruiter with a PSS certification & years of experience under my belt in recruiting, branding/marketing, & leadership roles... I thought it would be a breeze! People before me were going golfing, fishing & were in high paying jobs.... weren’t they?

Not everyone & if they were it was usually a trek to get there.

For me, It wasn’t the case - I did not know how valuable having a network, a community to lean into and mentors for support could relieve that feeling of being alone in transition & just how much they could help you transition successfully.

As I reflect on the past 4-5 years - I am truly grateful & honored to be part of an amazing company & blessed to partner with multiple teams that I can contribute to - that understand my experience & potential - a team that values me.

Shout out to Kim Shell for being an amazing leader & for giving me the opportunity to join the Lockheed Martin Family.

Many do not know this, but This is a milestone for me - it is my first 1 year anniversary at a company since retiring from the AF & transitioning into the civilian sector almost 5 years ago... Thank you to all that have been in my corner from day 1. I appreciate all of you & I am honored to continue to recruit RockSTARs for Lockheed Martin! #WeAreLM
