How To Find Exact Number of Connections On LinkedIn

How To Find Exact Number of Connections On LinkedIn

With all the changes happening on social media sites like LinkedIn and the diverse actions we take online everyday , keeping up with the number of people you have mutually connected with also changes. Once you have above 500 connections, LinkedIn simply states 500+ on your profile. Then the digging begins to find more granular information. There used to be (and there may be again in the future) ways to click from the navigation and see your exact contacts. If you have not found them, use the links below to get the number of people you are connected with on LinkedIn.

Here are two pages that show the exact number of connections.

1- Connections Page on LinkedIn

Update Sept 2014: LinkedIn no longer shows connections count using this method. Please see method 2

This page shows you the total number of connections and updates it when you refresh. Also, you will find the number of connections by Tags here. Managing tags is also accessible on this page. If you want to find connections by keyword, this page lets you search your connections as well.

2- Contacts Manage Sources Page on LinkedIn

This page indicates the number of contacts you have. However, please notice that it does not update real time. As you see below the number of connections is lower than the above image. After accepting a few connection requests I refreshed both pages and this one remained the number I started the day with. Yes, I clicked the refresh link and it remained the same. Nonetheless, this page also lets you sync your email with LinkedIn. I have not yet been brave enough to try it. If you have, please comment with your results.

How To Find Numbers of Connections That Other Profiles Have

People You are Connected To

To find number of contacts a person has who you are connected to, search for the person's name and click the search button (with the magnifier on it). Then click on that persons 500+. The results will show at the top left.

People You are Not Connected To with 500+

Click little dropdown arrow next to the send message button on a person's profile and select Recent Activity. You will find the number of people following them. This is a combination of their connections and those who follow their posts. That's the best we've got right now.

This link provides a detailed explanation of how to find connection numbers of people you are not connected to.

What To Do Once You Know Your Numbers

Though you may think the only benefit to having a high connection number, is status. On LinkedIn, however, more connections means more visibility. To learn more about how to maximize your visibility as your connections number grows, we suggest a targeted strategy to build relationships with your preferred target market. To find out what kind of strategy might work, schedule a 15 minute consult with us today (reference this article on LinkedIn and it's complimentary session).

Since the writing of this, LinkedIn has changed what they show. You can currently see up to 500 people and beyond that would be the number of people you two have in common.
