Drones are transforming industries across Latin America, enhancing security, agriculture, logistics, and disaster response. From delivering medical supplies to remote areas to aiding in search-and-rescue missions, these unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have become valuable tools. However, as drones create new opportunities, they also introduce emerging challenges—particularly when used for unauthorized or criminal activities.

The growing accessibility of drones has made them an attractive tool for illicit operations, including smuggling, espionage, and disruptions to critical infrastructure.   • Inability to Counter Advanced Drones – As drones become more sophisticated, older systems may fail.
  • Frequent False Alarms – Poorly designed systems create unnecessary disruptions.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Issues – The right C-UAS technology must align with legal and operational standards.
