Construction Sites - Curiosity

As Security Professionals we often spend a great deal of time discussing the best solution for protecting our clients from theft, malicious damage, and the resulting time and money lost after such an incident. It's no wonder considering that theft alone costs the UK Construction industry a staggering £800 Million a year.

Construction sites are undeniably attractive to thieves. In the rush to meet deadlines a client can easily overlook the fact that their site is also attractive to the curios kid who simply wants a closer look at a real JCB digger...

It is the responsibility of the security professional to not only consider the malicious intruder but also the curious kid. Only by ensuring that we give due consideration to both of these risks can we truly provide a client with a solution which can deliver peace of mind.

In the world that we live in it is our clients who are ultimately responsible for the safety of anyone on-site regardless of whether they're allowed to be there or not.

Existing clients will be aware that I passionately believe in protection, not just from malicious intruders but also the curios kid. Having monitored CCTV protecting your site perimeter means that our monitoring station is alerted the moment someone passes through our detection zones. We can then very quickly monitor the situation and issue a live audio warning demanding the intruder leave site immediately. In the vast majority of cases intruders will leave in a hurry when challenged, thus preventing theft, potential injury or even worse from occurring. Importantly, all of this is being digitally recorded which is vital in the event of a health and safety investigation.

I would urge any organisation who is not entirely comfortable with their existing site security arrangements to get in touch. A quick mail or phone call and I'd be delighted to carry out a free security survey on any of your sites, allowing you complete peace of mind to get on with your project.
