NO NO NO, NO COMMENT

Recent episode of Taking Care of BUSINESS - 98.7FM RPPFM - Voice of the Peninsula media panel chat about how to use the MEDIA to promote your business - with media experts, editors, journalists and PR bosses to help you get your brand 'out there'. I was joined by the Herald Sun's Business Editor #PeterTaylor, Media Guru #TraceeHutchison, PR experts #LindaReedEnever and #AndreaRowe - some handy tips included:

1. Tailor your story to your chosen media outlet, one at a time - DO NOT SEND MASS EMAILS

2. Write eye catching subject headers when sending email pitches - Get the readers attention

3. "No comment" doesn't do them or you any favours - "It's Infuriating". Stick to your key messages

4. Call or email the journalist/editor when they are less busy and not going to print eg. Herald Sun is mid-morning

5. Have a crisis and issues management plan for what could go wrong in your business

"Think about what makes your business different and unique and how you differ from every other business"
