Automotive’s AI shift is structural, not cosmetic. The car used to be the product - metal, engine, design. Today, software and AI define the vehicle experience and future business models. The rise of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) is reshaping how cars are architected, engineered, and monetized. Some examples: • Software & AI at the core Volkswagen Group is advancing scalable electronic architectures and SDV platforms, a sign that software is becoming the backbone of the vehicle, not just an add-on. • Autonomous mobility scaling in the real world Waymo is expanding its driverless taxi service across U.S. cities, logging hundreds of millions of autonomous miles. At the same time, Tesla is testing fully driverless robotaxis in Austin, progressing toward commercial deployment. The takeaway: Legacy automotive heritage alone doesn’t guarantee leadership in the AI-defined future. The winners will be companies that build strategy, platforms, and products around AI and software from the ground up - not those that simply bolt on new features. With TML, we will be contributing to the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 related to 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 and 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠. In this capacity, TML will provide expertise on areas such as particular AI-enabled mobility, autonomous driving use cases, digital vehicle ecosystems, and data-driven mobility infrastructures. We are specifically experienced in the development and assessment of CCAM technologies (through participation in major European initiatives and research projects), with activities including modelling and simulation of autonomous vehicle operations (including L3 and L4 passenger and freight use cases), evaluation of safety and performance impacts, development of technology roadmaps, the assessment of regulatory and policy frameworks, and the design of digital traffic management frameworks that integrate CCAM. The autonomous vehicle stack is becoming an ecosystem - not a product. Magna International’s expanded collaboration with NVIDIA to integrate and launch autonomous‑driving systems built on the DRIVE Hyperion platform highlights a shift in the industry. For years, OEMs debated whether to build autonomy technology internally or buy it from suppliers - Today, the reality is more complex. 🏆 C2I 2025 Automotive winner: evovlAD 🏆 The evolvAD programme, winner of the Automotive category at the C2I 2025 Awards, is setting a blueprint for scalable deployment of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) in the UK. 🛣️ Led by Nissan Motor Corporation in collaboration with Connected Places Catapult, TRL, Humanising Autonomy and SBD Automotive, the project tackled one of the sector’s biggest challenges: enabling autonomous drive systems (ADS) to operate reliably across multiple urban and rural operational design domains (ODDs). 🚘 Using infrastructure-enabled sensing, V2X communications, high-definition mapping and drive-by-wire technologies, evolvAD validated ADS performance in complex real-world environments - from narrow residential streets to high-speed rural roads.
