NASA's Spaceflight Crisis: Risk & Recklessness 🚀😱 NASA officials, including John Honeycutt, chair of the Artemis II mission management team, are emphasizing the importance of considering all potential risks. Concerns have been raised regarding probabilistic assessments, echoing a similar situation ahead of the first space shuttle flight in 1981. Bill Gerstenmaier highlighted an erroneous risk assessment predicting crew loss. Current assessments focus on potential collisions with micrometeoroids and orbital debris, alongside risks associated with the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft’s propulsion system. NASA’s objective is to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of all possible failures, prioritizing a robust strategy for mission success. 📰 Full story+ 🎧 multilingual audio summaries: https://lnkd.in/eijBXqBE #ABRINSIGHTS #NASA #SpaceExploration #SLS #Orion #Micrometeoroids #SpaceLaunch #RiskAssessment

NASA's Artemis program just underwent one of its most significant restructurings to date — and the implications go far beyond a simple schedule change. I wrote a detailed breakdown of what's changing, why it's changing, and the strategic tradeoffs NASA is making to prioritize safety, reliability, and mission cadence. From the redesigned Artemis III mission, to the future of the SLS upper stage, to the questions now surrounding the lunar Gateway: it's a story worth understanding. https://lnkd.in/g4Nvv7pC #NASA #Artemis #SLS #SpaceX

NASA has delayed its Artemis Moon landing plans, converting Artemis III into a 2027 test mission to validate the lunar lander in Earth orbit. A crewed landing is now targeted for 2028 under Artemis IV, with possible annual landings afterward. Artemis II has also been postponed due to rocket issues. The revisions follow safety concerns and technical risks, with NASA prioritizing hardware readiness and risk reduction before returning astronauts to the lunar surface. #Artemis #NASA #MoonLanding #LunarExploration #SpaceNews

Thank you to #SpectrumNews1Texas and anchor #CharlesDivins for interviewing #DidymosConsulting founder Ken Ruffin (in his role as a #SpaceCommunicator) on February 17, 2026, to explain the second #WetDressRehearsal #WDR testing, and more, for the upcoming #NASA #ArtemisII rocket launch. This video, lasting about 4-1/2 minutes, is intended to serve as a layperson introduction to the NASA Artemis II mission, with four #astronauts traveling around the #Moon and back, now rescheduled to occur no earlier than (NET) April 1, 2026, as of this writing. Ken is looking forward to providing additional Artemis II updates, including during his visit to the #FloridaSpaceCoast, where the launch from the #NASAKennedySpaceCenter will take place.

Great discussion at last week’s industry meeting on NASA’s Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) and the critical role of serviceability in enabling the next generation of flagship missions. Astroscale U.S. is proud to support NASA’s vision by advancing on-orbit servicing, refueling, inspection, and upgrade capabilities that can extend mission lifetimes, enhance resilience, and maximize science return. Sustainable, serviceable space infrastructure will be essential to unlocking the full potential of HWO and future observatories. #NASA #HWO #ISAM #SpaceSustainability #OnOrbitServicing #AstroscaleUS

Did you know NASA Delays Moon Mission, yes Again? NASA has pushed back the Artemis II astronaut mission after a helium system issue forced the 322-foot rocket to roll back for repairs. April is now the earliest possible launch. This would be the first crewed trip toward the Moon since 1972. Returning to deep space is proving harder than expected. #NASA #Artemis #MoonMission #SpaceExploration #Aerospace
