We’re excited to be working with Kronberg Urbanists + Architects on Oakland Exchange, a mixed-use development that brings together adaptive reuse and new construction, including two historic warehouse conversions, two ground-up buildings, and a distinctive shipping container structure. Our team is providing structural engineering across the full site, integrating existing and new systems into one cohesive framework. Located along the BeltLine corridor, the project supports the continued evolution of this historic and growing part of the city and we are thankful to be a part of it. #StabilityEngineering #AdaptiveReUse #Beltline https://lnkd.in/eqMCsFV9

The Great Seattle Fire of 1889 destroyed much of the city’s business district — but it also led to significant building code changes. Wood-frame commercial construction was largely replaced with brick and masonry, particularly in what is now Pioneer Square. Those changes improved fire resistance and reshaped the architectural identity of Seattle’s urban core. It’s a powerful example of how policy, safety, and resilience can permanently influence the built environment.

DID YOU KNOW? 🤔 Adaptive reuse isn’t just about saving four walls—it’s a sophisticated strategy for urban evolution. ♻️ At Winter Construction, we see "old" buildings as untapped potential. Transforming these structures requires a high-stakes balance of structural preservation, modern code compliance, and sustainable densification. From the sprawling industrial footprint of 1050 White Street to the vertical constraints of the Flatiron, we’ve mastered the technical art of "upcycling" at scale. Featured Projects 🏗️: ✅1050 White Street | Industrial-to-creative conversion on the Westside. ✅Flatiron Building | Reimagining Atlanta's oldest skyscraper for 21st-century innovation. ✅Resurgence Hall | High-impact adaptive reuse for state-of-the-art education. ✅Savanna Hall | Facade preservation meets modern hospitality at Zoo Atlanta. Great cities aren't built by starting over—they’re built by evolving. We’re proud to be the team transforming a rich heritage into modern competitive advantages. Let’s build the next chapter of Atlanta together. 🤝 #WinterConstruction #AdaptiveReuse #HistoricPreservation #AtlantaConstruction

Take a closer look at Hope on Alvarado in Los Angeles. This project represents a major milestone—the city’s first and largest steel volumetric modular housing development, delivered as permanent supportive housing within a dense urban infill site. It’s a strong example of what can be achieved when modular is designed and engineered for long-term durability, scalability, and real-world performance. Success at this level doesn’t happen in isolation. It requires early alignment between architects, developers, and public-sector partners—teams committed to delivering not just housing, but meaningful community impact. This is modular construction doing what it’s meant to do: solving real challenges, at real scale. If you’re exploring modular solutions for urban or supportive housing, let’s connect.
