Clarity is one of the most overlooked aspects of writing. Punctuation isn’t just a technical rule — it shapes meaning, interpretation, and professionalism in written work. In this short video, we demonstrate how punctuation can completely change a piece of writing and why attention to detail matters for authors and professionals alike. At BAC, we help writers refine their manuscripts by focusing on structure, clarity, and the small details that elevate good writing into great work. If you’re an author or creative looking to polish your manuscript, we’re open to conversations. I came across this lovely Ron Carlson quote in an essay called "The Intuitive Writing Process," published by The Writing Cycle. If you're the type of writer who struggles with writing formulas and wants to find a different way to access structure and inspiration in your stories, I highly recommend the read. https://lnkd.in/gTtraqDj

Before you can promote and sell a book, you must write, edit, and publish it well. Editing matters immensely. A developmental editor spotted that a new young adult fiction writer started their story at a very boring point. By moving the story's beginning to right before the action, it went from dull to captivating. Writing, editing, and publishing a great book are paramount to its success. Focus on leveling up your writing skill, as reader reviews and recommendations are key accelerators to book marketing. #BookWriting #EditingTips #PublishingAdvice #WritingSkills #BookMarketing

Stop over-explaining everything, you’re not being helpful. Yes, I said it. Somewhere along the line, beginner writers are taught that more words = better writing. So you explain. Then explain the explanation. Then add an example… just in case. And suddenly, the point is lost. In actuality Over-explaining can confuse. Instead of helping your reader, you overwhelm them. Instead of clarifying, you dilute the message. Knowing what not to say is part of writing. It shows confidence, clarity and respect for your reader’s time. Say the point. Trust the reader. Move on.

I’ve definitely been guilty of over-explaining early in my writing journey. Clarity and specificity is such an underrated skill in writing. But the fact is this: knowing what to remove is just as important as knowing what to add.
