The Report on Rob-Cop and robs indicates that the ROB-COP, positioned at the center of the formation, exerts absolute command over the auxiliary units. Its larger size and more complex mechanical configuration confirm its hierarchical dominance. The robs, smaller in scale and equipped with dimmer light cores, appear to respond in synchrony, implying the existence of either a direct communication link or a real-time synchronization system. I’ve been developing a unique ASCII 3D Model Wirewrapper - a little experiment that lets you view animated 3D objects rendered entirely in code, reminiscent of something straight out of The Matrix. I was going through one of my old external hard drives and found an old animation I created 8 years ago. I had uploaded this as a LinkedIn article before (https://lnkd.in/gGhmgyJk), but I never really talked about it in detail. 🤭 This animation shows the #dynamicload simulated for a 3D Truck-Trailer model traveling over a rough #pavement. 😁 The dynamic load was obtained from the vehicle simulation and the instantaneous pavement deflections were obtained using #ViscoWave's Moving Frame Analysis Method (https://lnkd.in/gbbwciXp). Simulation of vehicle motion (for dynamic loads and International Roughnes Index, #IRI) combined with a pavement model (for pavement deflection, stress, and/or strain) can be pretty powerful. 😁 These were the tools used by Dr. Collop and Dr. Cebon for what they called the "Whole-Life Pavement Performance Modelling" (https://lnkd.in/gGY2YuXv). 👍 I also used these tools for #MechanisticEmpirical (ME) #IRI prediction (https://lnkd.in/gssc2ZCv). 😉 It was a lot of fun... although running the simulation itself was quite painful. 😂 What else can we use these tools for? RBD Simulation in Houdini | Material Break Test I created a Rigid Body Dynamics simulation in Houdini, testing how bricks, glass, and a wood wall react to impact. The base models were made in Maya and imported into Houdini in FBX format for simulation. Used RBD Material Fracture for realistic break patterns and Glue constraints to control material strength. To make it fun, I added the Houdini Pig Head as the RBD hero object — smashing through all three materials! 🎥 The result: bricks crumble, glass shatters, and wood splits — all simulated procedurally in Houdini. #Houdini #VFX #RBD #Simulation #3D #SideFX #Dynamics #FXArtist #Maya #FBX

The response to the destruction video has been unreal, huge thanks to everyone! 😊 A few people asked how the system works, so here’s a quick look under the hood for a bit more context. It all comes down to a few main steps: • Import a 3D mesh and mask (either from Unreal or created directly in Houdini) • Use the mask to drive boolean geometry cuts • Apply intricate damage details to both the main and detached pieces • Merge and optimize everything back into a single mesh • Generate vertex color masks from the final output for material blending #Houdini #TechArt #Procedural
