Large Space Simulator gets a digital twin, The Large Space Simulator, Europe’s largest vacuum chamber, routinely reproduces space conditions on Earth to test spacecraft before they fly into orbit. The facility is complex, and the current process of training a new operator is lengthy and complicated. To make it easier, the space simulator now has a digital twin – the most realistic virtual model of the facility yet, developed for the European Space Agency (ESA) by the Spanish engineering company Empresarios

Longest Continuously Operating Electronic Computer Award: Voyager 1 and its twin space probe, both launched by NASA in 1977, were the first human-made objects to reach interstellar space. But that’s not the only record the spacecraft hold. Voyager 2’s Computer Command System has not been turned off since it first booted up about 48 years ago, making it the longest continuously operating electronic computer.

Flying over the Arctic, our spacecraft SpIRIT captured this image of a snowy white wonderland below. SpIRIT’s high inclination orbit gives the satellite a prime view of the Antarctic and Arctic polar ice caps that can be captured and processed by the imaging system we have developed. These regions of low contrast provide a nice challenge for the classification algorithms running on the edge that we are testing with SpIRIT’s onboard GPU enabled AI payload. Photon drives will then bring high-speed, relativistic potential, allowing spacecraft to cover vast distances with unprecedented efficiency. By combining derivative-based analysis and dynamic modulation, we can predict velocity and energy transfer with remarkable precision. The result? A spacecraft capable of adapting in real time to rare-state mission orientations and procedures, seamlessly balancing precision and high-velocity travel. Adam was the first step—photon drives represent the next evolution toward truly modular and predictive spaceflight.

Just imagine what this could mean for everyone who wanted to reach space, but were restricted by costs. For every space agency and company which just needed that extra bit of more funds or investment to complete their spacecraft.
