Chief Executive Jeremy King's speech underscored that: "Space is no longer a distant frontier, it is essential infrastructure to our lives as we now know it and is becoming central to modern militaries around the world." He has taken the opportunity to shout out the Australian space sector as well: "There are number of world leaders in space in our industrial ecosystem, exporting globally, and contributing across civil, commercial, and military sectors. By way of example, Inovor Technologies out of Adelaide. Who participated in a yearlong Mentor Protégé Program and define what can be achieved in Australian space. Silentium Defence is another. As is ground segment champion Av-Comm Space & Defence, who along with Blacktree Technology, wave the Australian flag high not just here but around the world. It would be remiss of me not to mention Gilmour Space Technologies, HEO, and Space Machines Company. In short, we truly have some great capabilities, people, and skills in our country to work and partner with in support of space and defence." Concluding that, "LM and my Industry peers need to see ourselves as Pime Systems Integrator to continue to build on this approach. Space is an important capability for Defence and the lives we have become accustomed to living. Given the reliance it is important that we cast our mind to its resilience and the role Defence and Defence industry should play regarding space communications and control into the future." Chief Executive, Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand

Australia’s future—and our national security—depends on the space domain. I was honoured to recently speak at the Williams Foundation and have shared some key messages, with a link to the full speech below: • Space is no longer a distant frontier; it is the backbone of our economy and our military. • Resilience is non‑negotiable – when considering MILSATCOM, the PACE framework (Primary‑Alternate‑Contingency‑Emergency) reminds us that our Primary solution should be resilient by design and fit-for-purpose in a contested threat environment. • Collaboration is our strength – I state that allies and partners around the world are looking to how we can achieve force multiplying effects at the speed of relevance. This includes with industry, we are proud to be engaged with companies such as Japan’s Mitsubishi Electric on the next-generation of anti-jam MILSATCOM. Locally, we engage with Australian space innovators like Inovor Technologies, Silentium Defence, Av-Comm Space & Defence and more. • Industry growth is already happening – Lockheed Martin Australia’s Office of Australian Industrial Participation has exceeded $225 million in export contracts, proving Australian talent and manufacturing are truly world‑class. • Future‑proofing for the warfighter – from the new GPS III and GPS IIIF satellites to the next generation of multi-orbit satellites, together we will maintain dominance in a contested space environment. I invite you all to read the speech to see how we can continue to strengthen Australia’s strategic advantage together. Full speech here: https://lnkd.in/gMEJnBQK Sir Richard Williams Foundation

  • After a busy and productive week at Space Symposium in Colorado, we’re proud to keep the momentum going in Washington, D.C. We’re delighted to be joining Team Defence Australia at Sea Air Space at a time when global collaboration across space and defence has never been more critical. Events like these play an important role in bringing together industry, government, and international partners creating the space for meaningful conversations, strengthening trusted relationships, and unlocking new opportunities for collaboration. With the pace of innovation accelerating and the strategic environment evolving, it’s the right moment for these discussions to translate into real partnerships and tangible outcomes! • We’re incredibly proud to see our very own Project Manager, Alex Ryan, as part of the 2026 YLD cohort, stepping into the rooms that carry impact, contributing to important conversations and engaging in spaces that drive influence! Opportunities like the Young Leadership Dialogue part of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue are where perspectives are challenged, ideas are shaped, and the next generation of leaders continues to grow. It’s inspiring to see Alex representing not just our team, and our state but the kind of thoughtful, forward-looking leadership that makes a difference 🌟💫

We recently convened the 2026 Young Leadership Dialogue (YLD) Australian Retreat in Melbourne, bringing together more than 60 emerging leaders from across the country. Over three days, delegates engaged with 30 exceptional thought leaders across academia, science, space, government, policy, business, health, AI, innovation, and technology. Their perspectives challenged assumptions, broadened horizons, and reinforced the responsibility of leadership in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. We extend our sincere thanks to our partners Sentinel Real Estate, Monash University, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting key sessions and contributing insights that resonated deeply with participants. The conversations you helped ignite carried well beyond the formal program — into the evenings and across networks — embodying the spirit of the YLD: open, candid, and enduring dialogue. The Young Leadership Dialogue sits at the core of the AALD’s mission — to cultivate the next generation of leaders and to strengthen the Australia–United States alliance through trusted relationships and shared purpose. Gatherings like this are a powerful reminder that leadership is not only about ideas, but about connection, stewardship, and the willingness to engage across differences. Next month, we look forward to launching the US YLD Retreat in Washington DC.

  • After more than two years in orbit, SpIRIT has officially concluded its mission, marking the successful completion of the first Inovor built satellite in orbit! Led by the University of Melbourne in collaboration with the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana SpIRIT demonstrated a suite of Australian-designed technologies in orbit, advancing capabilities in autonomous spacecraft operations, communications, propulsion, and thermal management which are all critical building blocks for Australia’s growing sovereign space capability. As the manufacturer of the satellite bus, we are very proud to have supported this pioneering mission alongside an incredible national consortium, including Neumann Space, Nova Systems, and SITAEL Australia. Being part of the first satellite funded by the Australian Space Agency is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of and a reminder of what’s possible when Australian industry and universities collaborate to deliver world-class space missions. #AustralianSpace #SpaceTechnology #SpaceIndustry #Satellites #InOrbit #SpIRIT #Farewell

Mission complete 🛰️ Aussie SpIRIT concludes operations after landmark success. Australia has marked a major milestone in its rapidly growing space sector with the successful conclusion of the SpIRIT mission — ending more than 25 months of pioneering operations in orbit and vital demonstrations of our nation’s space capability. SpIRIT (Space Industry Responsive Intelligent Thermal) is led by the University of Melbourne, in collaboration with the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, and made possible through investment from the Australian Space Agency. The novel nanosatellite received $7 million in funding from the Agency and exceeded its original two-year design life. Over its lifetime, the 11.5-kilogram shoebox-sized spacecraft completed about 16,000 orbits of Earth – travelling around 690 million kilometres in total, equivalent to the distance from Earth to Jupiter.
