#GamingtheSystem# One of the most significant unintended consequences of NAAC's grading system is the incentive it creates for institutions to "game the system," where institutions focus their efforts on improving their scores on specific indicators rather than on holistic institutional development. The emphasis on quantitative metrics and data-driven assessments has led to a situation where institutions prioritize data collection and manipulation over genuine quality improvement initiatives. This "metric fixation" results in institutions allocating resources and efforts towards areas that are heavily weighted in the assessment process, often at the expense of other important aspects of institutional quality. The shift towards data-based quantitative indicator evaluation, while intended to increase objectivity and transparency, has inadvertently encouraged institutions to prioritize data manipulation and window dressing to meet the assessment criteria. This ultimately undermines the credibility of the accreditation process and reduces its effectiveness as a tool for quality enhancement. While NAAC has been continuously fine-tuning its assessment methodologies in response to stakeholder feedback, the fundamental problem of institutions prioritizing grades over genuine quality improvement persists.

Last week, Nossa Data attended the EFRAG outreach event for all stakeholders to discuss the 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗦𝗥𝗦. The consultation on the draft ESRS closed yesterday. The EFRAG SRB will now review the feedback submitted and then EFRAG's technical advice will be delivered to the Commission by 30 November 2025. The simplified ESRS has meant the following proposed reductions: • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 (to be reported if material) have been cut by 𝟱𝟳% • The 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 - mandatory and voluntary reduced by 𝟲𝟴% • The 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 of the standards has been shortened by over 𝟱𝟱% As a reminder, there are 𝟲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 to the ESRS simplification published by EFRAG: 1. Simplification of the DMA 2. Better readability / conciseness of the sustainability statements 3. Relationship between general disclosure requirements (former MDR) to topical standards 4. Understandability, clarity and accessibility of ESRS 5. Horizontal burden reduction reliefs (including the undue cost or effort principle) 6. Enhances interoperability with global reporting standards (in particular, the ISSB) Read Nossa Data’s previous post on EFRAG’s ESRS simplification drafts: https://lnkd.in/gTCXajiV #nossadata #efrag #esrs #csrd #esg

New article from Donato Calace: “Double Materiality Requirements in the Revised ESRS: Simplification or Complication?” The revised ESRS aimed to simplify the Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) — but many companies may still find the process just as complex. In his latest article, Donato highlights where clarity has been lost and what EFRAG can do to deliver a framework that is both practical and robust. - Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eR8Qiaxn. - See Datamaran’s full response to EFRAG’s public consultation (closing today): https://lnkd.in/es984h6J. #CSRD #ESRS #DoubleMateriality #SustainabilityReporting #EFRAG

The recent MEPC voting outcome turned out differently than many in the maritime community expected. It’s a clear reminder that while the industry’s commitment to decarbonization is strong, the path forward remains far from straightforward. From the vessel performance perspective, this result reinforces how critical it is to balance regulatory ambition with technological readiness and operational feasibility. Targets alone don’t move ships — the collaboration between regulators, owners, class societies, and solution providers does. With another year now given for all stakeholders to rethink and come back with strengthened proposals, perhaps this pause can be used for the better — to align technical understanding, close data gaps, and ensure future measures are both ambitious and implementable. As we continue refining efficiency strategies, performance monitoring frameworks, and energy-assist technologies, this decision might reshape how the industry prioritizes innovation and compliance over the next few years. I’d be very interested to hear what others in the industry think — 👉 Do you see this as a slowdown, or as a necessary recalibration toward more practical progress? 👉 How might this influence the adoption of performance and emission technologies across fleets? Open to hearing thoughts — after all, open discussion is what drives better outcomes. ⚓ https://lnkd.in/gmXjG8XG
