🤔 Why do procurement teams miss goals—even when they seem aligned? No visible conflict. No disagreement. Everyone is doing the “right thing.” Yet the outcome still falls short. The issue isn’t whether teams are aligned, it’s that alignment exists only on the surface. ✅ Different interpretations of the same goal ✅ Decisions fragmented across roles ✅ Critical trade-offs left unowned 🧠 The team isn’t misaligned—it’s aligned at the wrong level. If you want real results, don’t just align direction—align how decisions are made. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/grEvfJ68 #Procurement #TeamDynamics #DecisionMaking #Leadership #ProcureDNA #TheMBTIForProcurement

If procurement stops for 1 day… Most companies will panic. No materials. No deliveries. No operations. Everything slows down… or stops. But when procurement works perfectly for 365 days? No one notices. No praise. No recognition. Just expectations. That’s the paradox. Procurement is critical… but invisible. If you’re in procurement — you know this feeling. #Procurement #SupplyChain #BusinessReality #Operations #Leadership

Interim procurement leaders are playing an increasingly critical role in PE-backed transformation. In high-pressure environments where timelines are tight and value creation is key, organisations are looking for experienced leaders who can deliver impact from day one. The remit goes far beyond maintaining continuity - it’s about driving change, unlocking efficiencies, and supporting strategic objectives through procurement. As private equity continues to prioritise operational performance, procurement is becoming a central lever for transformation. This is changing both the expectations of interim leaders and the skillsets required to succeed in these roles. Our latest insight explores how this shift is reshaping interim procurement leadership in PE-backed businesses. A procurement maturity assessment isn't an audit looking for fault. It's a diagnostic looking for leverage. The difference matters. An audit makes people defensive. A diagnostic provides them with a baseline of where the function actually sits across governance, capability, systems, and stakeholder engagement. That baseline is what turns "we think we need investment" into "here's the evidence, here's the gap, and here's what closing it is worth." 🚨 Procurement Is the Silent Shock Absorber Procurement is expected to reduce costs… even when requirements are unclear. Deliver on time… even when requests come last minute. Manage suppliers flawlessly… while priorities keep shifting. And when something goes wrong? Procurement is the first to be questioned. 👉 The truth: Procurement isn’t failing. It’s absorbing the impact of poor planning and late decisions. 💬 Maybe the real question isn’t: “Why didn’t procurement fix it?” But: “Why was procurement put in that position?” #Procurement #SupplyChain #Leadership #Operations #BusinessResilience

Procurement is often described as being “brought in too late.” But in many cases, that’s not the real issue. The real issue is that the decision was already made. Not formally. But informally. • a supplier was already preferred • the scope was already shaped • the budget was already aligned • expectations were already set By the time procurement is involved, the process looks open. But the outcome is mostly closed. This is where friction starts. Not because procurement is slowing things down. But because it’s trying to introduce structure into a decision that has already moved forward. In my experience, this isn’t about people bypassing procurement. It’s about the absence of a clear decision structure upstream. When decision points are not defined early, decisions still happen. Just without visibility. And that’s what creates rework, tension, and lost value later on. Procurement isn’t late. It’s entering a process that started without it. #Procurement #Leadership

Most companies don’t lose money in procurement… They lose it in poor decisions. Not negotiating properly. Not planning demand. Not evaluating suppliers beyond price. Procurement isn’t about buying cheaper. It’s about buying smarter. The real value lies in: • Right supplier selection • Timing the market • Understanding total cost (not just price) • Building strategic relationships In today’s volatile markets, procurement is no longer a support function — it’s a profit lever. If your procurement team isn’t driving strategy, you’re leaving money on the table. #Procurement #StrategicSourcing #SupplyChain #CostOptimization #Leadership #AshvidaConsultants

I probably shouldn’t be saying this… But a lot of organizations are not losing money because things are expensive, they’re losing money because procurement is treated like a routine, not a strategy. Let’s be honest. The real issues are uncomfortable: 1) Approvals that happen without scrutiny 2)Urgent purchases that bypass process 3) Decisions driven by pressure, not data 4) Vendor choices influenced by familiarity, not value And then we wonder why costs keep rising. Procurement is not a back-office function. It is a profit protection engine. When done right: Every spend aligns with business goals Every supplier delivers measurable value Every decision is backed by data, not emotion Every risk is managed before it becomes a crisis Here’s the part many leaders avoid: Weak procurement doesn’t just increase cost, it quietly erodes profitability. No noise. No alarms. Just consistent financial leakage. If you sit in procurement, finance, or leadership, this is worth reflecting on: Are your procurement decisions creating value, or just closing requests? #ProcurementLeadership #StrategicSourcing #FinanceExcellence #SupplyChain #Leadership
