🎸 Ever wondered how creative sound design starts at the pedalboard? I just kicked off a new short-form series called “What Does This Pedal Do?” showing off unique guitar and bass effects in action. In this episode, I feature the Line 6 FM4, a synth-style filter pedal used by artists like Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Mars Volta. These sounds are bold, expressive, and anything but typical. Whether you are a fellow musician, a producer, or someone curious about music tech, check it out and let me know what you think.

Ever notice how altering a single element can transform an entire composition? Consider the impact of manipulating echo and loop sizes within music—a dance of adjustments that always returns to a central theme. It's fascinating how varying the rhythm by adjusting echo sizes—whether to one-third or two-thirds—can create a dynamic, evolving soundscape. It’s like 'beat juggling,' crafting a unique rhythm on the fly. What strategies do you employ to dynamically reshape your work, ensuring you retain a solid foundation? #MusicProduction #SoundDesign #CreativeProcess #Innovation #AudioEngineering

🎶 This is Part 5 of my Speaking to Music series 🎶 In this video I explain how to find YOUR STYLE through genre and distraction techniques. For my new connections here's some context - I am public speaker with a severe stutter. For nearly 30 years I’ve trained myself to speak to the signature of house music, locking into a 4-on-the-floor beat. For this to work, every sentence is aligned to rhythm. It's a layered process that I have built over decades which includes awareness, selection, rhythm, and distraction. Today, mastering this technique takes me to stages around the world 🙂 🎥 Jake Mooney #Stuttering #PublicSpeaking #Storytelling

🎸 Ever wonder why your scales sound like exercises instead of music? This short clip reveals something powerful... The secret isn't learning more scales. It's combining what you already know in creative ways. Here's what transforms boring practice: 🎯 Diatonic arpeggios that flow naturally together ✨ Strategic approach notes that add instant sophistication 🔥 Simple reversals that create unexpected melodic turns 🌟 One chromatic note placed perfectly for maximum impact I've watched countless players go from: ❌ Mechanical scale runs that sound predictable ➡ ✅ Musical phrases that grab listeners by the ears You don't need to memorize complex theory. Just learn to weave arpeggios into your scale work. The Am7 to Fmaj7 connection shown here is just the beginning. When you start thinking diatonically, everything clicks. 👉 What's your biggest challenge turning scales into actual music? Share below. 👉 Full video breakdown is in the first comment 👇 #guitarlessons #jazzguitar #musiceducation #guitartheory #diatonicarpeggios

Here's a clip from a concept video that I shot last week. You might be asking yourself, what is a concept video? A concept video is essentially a mini music video. It can often showcase to brands a vision that you have for their storyline or can showcase to artists an outline of what their future music video could look like. Concept videos usually include other people but this one I went solo. Let me know what you think 🤔

🎮 Storytelling Through Sound: How Music Builds Game Worlds Great game music isn’t just there — it tells the story. From Zelda’s legendary motifs to indie gems like Celeste, the best soundtracks build emotional bridges between the player and the world. Every recurring melody becomes a memory trigger — it reminds you who you are in the story. A strong musical identity is like a good character arc: it evolves. When your game’s soundtrack grows with the narrative, it stops being background noise and starts becoming part of the story itself. 💡 Tip: Start with a clear sonic palette — instruments, harmonies, and textures that reflect your world. Let your music narrate the emotional subtext your dialogue can’t. #Pulse #GameAudio #ImmersiveAudio #SoundDesign #Soundtrack

Could listening to music increase intelligence? That concept is known as the “Mozart Effect” and has been around for decades. I often hear it pop up in conversation, but how much of it is myth, and how much is real? In this quick clip, I explain what the research actually shows about music and cognitive performance — including how the right soundtrack can boost focus, clarity, and mood. Give it a watch, and if you’re curious to try it yourself, I’ve linked a Myndstream soundscape that helps me 👉 http://bit.ly/3J2sOaI
