We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the Z Zurich Foundation to deliver preparatory workshops for their global cohort of leaders attending this year’s One Young World Summit in Munich.
Bringing together over 2,000 young leaders from more than 190 countries, the One Young World Summit is the world's largest and most influential youth leadership event 🌍
We’re looking forward to the first workshop today, which will focus on systems change thinking, led by Charlie Curtis. It will cover how to identify and map key stakeholders based on their interests and degree of alignment, helping the delegation think through their relationship-building strategy for the summit.
Charlie is a lecturer in innovation and systems change, a corporate advisor, and the co-founder of DryGro and Origen.

“We already did our DEI training.”
If you’ve heard this, you’re not alone.
But real inclusion doesn’t happen in one session.
It happens when:
📚 DEI is woven into leadership development
🧠 Bias is unpacked in performance conversations
📈 Equity shows up in opportunity design

When saving lives is your mission, leadership matters.
What started as a pilot of 20 participants, a few volunteer mentors, and an idea to develop future EMS leaders is now Mentorship Match, a component of the AAA EMS Next program 🚑 that reaches professionals across 15+ states, logging hundreds of mentoring interactions, sparking confidence, and creating tangible leadership growth.
With Mentorloop, the American Ambulance Association scaled informal mentoring into a structured, accessible program that's giving mentors and mentees the tools they need to drive their own learning and make meaningful connections.
👏 Congratulations to Samantha Hilker and AAA, 2025 #MentorloopImpactAwards winners, for showing how mentoring can transform an industry from the inside out.

Too often, I’ve seen organizations scramble when a senior leader exits. Why? Because succession was never prioritized.
True succession planning is not about replacing people. It is about building pipelines of leaders who are ready for tomorrow’s challenges.
In my 40+ years, the most resilient organizations were those that invested in mentoring, leadership development, and exposure for their high-potential talent.
Leadership is a relay. The baton must always be ready to pass.
If your top leader left tomorrow, would your pipeline be ready?
I agree 100% with this observation. Even at the front line, in roles often viewed as “just execution,” I’ve seen how lack of organizational planning or alignment forces us into reactive mode — chasing deliverables, firefighting, and shifting priorities constantly.
From where I sit in operations/maintenance, here are a few reflections:
• Misalignment upwards filters down harshly. When leadership changes direction without clear communication or justification, everyone below has to scramble — we lose time, resources, and morale.
• Limited visibility means limited influence. Lower-level teams often don’t get to see the full picture (strategy, constraints, trade-offs). Yet they bear the brunt when things change midstream.
• Consistency and small commitments matter. Simple practices like regular briefings, incremental checkpoints, and transparent feedback loops can prevent large disruptive pivots.
• Empower people close to the work. Because they are the ones who know the ground realities, involving them in planning or change decisions (even in small ways) can save wasted effort and create ownership.
• Psychological safety is key. When teams feel safe to speak up — to say “that plan won’t work the way it’s designed” — you catch many issues earlier.

Which essential skills do you build into your student leadership programs?
How do we expect student leaders to lead successfully if we don’t provide support?
These are some of the most common tools that we provide when working with student leaders.
A super inspiring cohort of young leaders. Thank you for the opportunity to work with them
