How do you instantly build trust and warmth in your voiceover projects? It's simpler than you think—and it starts with how you deliver your voice. In voiceover work, your voice isn't just sound; it's the bridge connecting your client's message to their audience's hearts and minds. When you want to convey trust and warmth quickly, it's about more than tone; it's about intention, pacing, and authenticity. Here's how I do it: • Speak with genuine emotion. Your listeners can tell when you're authentic. Let your natural warmth come through—it builds instant rapport. • Control your pacing. Too fast feels rushed and untrustworthy; too slow loses engagement. Find the sweet spot where your message feels clear and inviting. • Use a conversational tone. Pretend you're speaking to a friend, not reading a script. This adds warmth and makes your voice feel approachable. One client recently needed a corporate narration that required an approachable but professional voice. By dialing in these elements, we finished the project within 24 hours, and the client's feedback was glowing: "Your voice brought the script to life in a way that felt both sincere and engaging. It really connected with our team." This means that whether you're recording a commercial, eLearning module, or radio imaging, your voice can immediately set the tone for trust and warmth—helping clients achieve their goals faster. If you want your next project to resonate authentically and warmly, focus on how you deliver, not just what you say. Your voice is your most powerful tool. What's one technique you've found effective for building trust quickly in your voiceover work?

A lot of people say they want to start voiceover. But they’re stuck. Not because they don’t have talent… But because they don’t have direction. They’re waiting for: The perfect mic. The perfect setup The perfect time. Meanwhile… time is moving. Let me tell you something from experience: You don’t start when everything is ready. You start… and figure things out. That’s how I grew in media. That's how I improved my voice and how I built confidence. Not by waiting. By doing. (That feedback from my client came from actually doing the work.) Voiceover is one of those skills that can start small…and quietly become a serious income stream. But only if you START. That’s exactly why I put together my voiceover guide on Selar. Not theory . Not motivational talk. 📍Just practical steps: 👉What voiceover really is and how the industry works 👉How to record clean voiceovers using your phone 👉How to create a professional demo reel 👉Where voiceover artists actually find clients 👉How to price your voiceover work How to turn your voice into a real income skill If you’ve been thinking about voiceover, don’t overthink it. 🌟 A lot of times in the voiceover industry, we have highs and then we have lows and sometimes it feels like the lows are a little bit longer than the highs. And it's easy to forget what it was that got you involved in your voiceover business to begin with. There are many, many hard days. There can be days that go by that you're not getting a job. You're frustrated with marketing. Nobody seems to be responding, your clients aren't paying you, maybe groups on social media complaining about things sometimes. And this can get you down. And I want you guys to remember that you got into this industry for a reason, right? It was a passion. It was a dream. I remember when I first decided to get into voiceover, it was, it was a dream of mine to be able to do something that I loved and work for myself. That to me was joyful. And when I first started, I was really excited to learn all that I could and get my business rolling. And then soon enough, after so many years, I started getting into the grind of the voiceover business. And I started hitting some of these lows where I was really stressed out thinking maybe this wasn't the right path for me. My self-talk was, "I don't seem to be getting any jobs that I've auditioned for. Nobody's sending me emails, asking me for quotes." But I promise you that if you have the commitment and the dedication to always improve your craft and always strive to build a better business, you will find the joy. Take a deep breath and think about what it was that got you excited about voiceover? Was it, you know, being able to create great character voices? Was it reading that audiobook to your intended audience? Was it maybe an e-learning module where you felt that you were actually helping people or maybe reading a medical narration that, you know, got you excited because there were all these big words. So I want you to every day, take a moment and remember what it is about your voiceover business that brings you joy. Every second of your day, you have that option to choose joy. I believe in you. So don't forget to take the time and think of those things that bring you joy. #CreativeLeadership #SpeakWithHeart #VOBOSS

Most people think voiceover work is just "reading words out loud." It's not. It's about bringing the script to life. Creating emotion. Guiding the listener without them even noticing. Here's what, I believe makes a great voiceover: 1. Clarity If people have to replay what you said, that's not the best. Every word should land clearly. Not rushed or mumbled. 2. Tone A commercial needs energy and warmth. A documentary needs authority and calm. An explainer video needs approachability and clarity. 3. Pacing Too fast = people can't process. Too slow = people tune out. Great pacing feels natural, like you're having a conversation. 4. Authenticity The best voiceovers don't sound like voiceovers. They sound like a real person talking to you. No fake enthusiasm or forced energy. It's simply genuine communication. What I've voiced: Commercials. Profiles. Intros. Brand stories. Motivational content. Every project is different. Every script needs a different approach. If you need a voiceover for your project: Whether it's a commercial, explainer, narration, or brand content; let's make it sound as good as it looks. Reach out to The Compere Services: https://lnkd.in/dygUqiMT OR simply send me a DM. You'll be glad you did. Happy Weekend! What's the best voiceover you've heard? What made it great? #Voiceover #VoiceActing #TheCompereServices #ContentCreation #LinkedIn

How you prep your script can make or break the flow of your voiceover session. A well-prepared script means fewer stops, less confusion, and faster recording — saving both time and energy for everyone involved. Here's what I've learned over 20 years of voiceover work: • Mark tricky words or phrases clearly. • Break the script into manageable sections. • Highlight the tone or emotion for each part. • Leave space for natural pauses. • Share pronunciation guides when needed. For example, on a recent corporate narration project, prepping the script thoroughly cut our session time nearly in half and improved the final audio's natural feel. Taking these steps upfront means I can focus on delivering an authentic, smooth performance without constant interruptions. If you're working with voice talent, investing a little time prepping your script will pay off big in quality and speed. How do you prepare scripts for your voiceover projects? I'd love to hear your tips or challenges.

There’s a growing trend in voiceover where authority is being claimed without ever stepping into the arena. Big numbers. Vague metrics. Impressive-sounding “touches” spread across a career. But no clear evidence of what actually matters: Performance. IN the Studio. As a PERFORMER. An actual Voiceover Artist. Not oversight. Not proximity. Not commentary. PERFORMANCE. ON the Microphone. Because there’s a difference between being around the work… and being the one trusted to deliver it. And while some like to talk about volume—how much they’ve “been involved in” over time— those of us who actually do this know what the real heavy lifting looks like: Taking a script and making it undeniable. Beating out hundreds of auditions. Earning the shortlist. Getting the booking. Walking into a live session with world-class creatives— entrusted by recognized brands...both large and small. and delivering, on demand, with no safety net. That’s the weight. Not talking about the work. Not framing the work. Not counting the work. Doing the work. ON THE MICROPHONE. So it raises a fair question: If someone positions themselves as a builder of voiceover careers— Where is their own track record as revealed by the mic? With marked up scripts before them? Countless hours of preparation and study and incessant practice bringing them to the "moment of truth" in session... when that first spoken word passes their lips? And the task of interpreting and translating it from mere written characters to solid message? Where is evidence of the mastery of the CRAFT that is Voiceover? Where are the "reps"? What is the "stack"? Where are the bookings? The sessions? The moments where they had to actually carry the load? Because this isn’t an industry you master from the sidelines. It’s one you survive— one audition, one session, one client at a time. And eventually, that difference becomes obvious. Voiceover isn’t a commentary field. It’s a performance business. And you can’t teach the weight… if you’ve never had to lift it. #voiceover #voiceacting #vo #authenticresonance #realvsnoise #creativework #performanceoverposturing #earnednotclaimed #dothework #shutupandvoice

Voice acting auditions are always a gamble. Sometimes when juggling project workloads I don't have time to gamble unless I know a client is already interested in hearing from me. I love whenever I'm lucky enough to get a request because it helps me prioritize your audition properly while managing multiple revenue streams to keep open availability for freelance work. Requesting talent through their agent is a great way to let them know that you care about the time they put into their work and you want to hear from them, even if they might not book. To guarantee you hear from a certain person, make sure to put in a request when you send out those sides!

👋 Nice to meet you. We don't really know someone until we open ourselves up to them and let them see us, too. ⚡ Personally, I find vulnerability a bit uncomfortable, but I know that without it, trust is hard to build. 🤝 At the same time, while we're feeling things out, others are doing the same. There's only so much we can pick up at arm's length. At some point, we have to let things play out. That's just as true in business as it is anywhere else. Every working relationship starts with a decision—whether to trust someone before we have anything to go on. There's always some risk in that. But without it, we're left guessing, relying on assumptions instead of seeing someone's true character. 🔊 Every time I step into a directed voiceover session, I feel a mix of risk and vulnerability. And it's important not to take it personally when asked to change things up—especially when you're counting on each other to get it right. It's rarely about having done anything wrong—it's about exploring ideas together. ✨ And when writers, producers, voice talent, and clients trust each other, things click—and that's when it really connects. 🧩 And this isn't limited to voiceover—anywhere people work together, trust is the glue that pulls it all together. 💬 Is there a tell that you recognize when trust is earned? Have you considered adding voiceover to your marketing or advertising campaigns? Or a video explainer on your website? I'd love to help! 🎙️ Always happy to support your next project! 🙏 #voiceover #MarketingAndAdvertising #trust
