The biggest venture quarter ever recorded just happened with $300B deployed and 81% of it going into AI. Yet most early-stage founders raising right now are still getting passed on in the first meeting. This isn't a panel about how to build a better slide deck; it's a conversation about the gap between what founders think investors want to hear and what actually drives an investment decision. GoPresent is bringing together investors and founders who've been on both sides of that conversation to break down: • What kills a deal in the first 5 minutes (and why founders rarely see it coming) • How the Q1 2026 AI funding explosion is changing what "investable" looks like at Pre-Seed through Series B • The specific patterns that separate founders who close rounds from founders who get "great meeting, we'll circle back" I'm so excited to be speaking on this panel and sharing my experience as a VC to help founders raise. Come join us on June 1st at 2pm EST for this NY TECH WEEK by a16z event! RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/g25R-4Je #VentureCapital #Startups #Founders #EarlyStage #NYTechWeek

For the second year running, IMI Venture Studio held a round table bringing together 18 leading investors for open conversations on latest market trends and what venture signals do investors actually trust especially for early stage startups. We talked about 🔍 Where market attention is going: where in AI, the shift to energy security, moves in industrial tech, and focus on localisation. ✅ What gets funded: Real customer pain. Defensible IP. Early commercial traction even in deep tech. Motivated founders. ⚠️ What's holding the ecosystem back: Gaps in support for deep tech - from limited corporate co-development, grant dependency, and working capital constraints. And how while M&A is growing but Southeast Asia needs more credible exits. We host these sessions so that we at IMI can continuously learn how we can build better ventures to future proof our business. We invest in startups because we want to invest in the future of energy and industrials. And beyond that, we want to play our part in the ecosystem - to connect capital, operators, and ecosystem builders to exchange knowledge and best practices. Big thanks to all the VCs who showed up and shared openly. And great to have our IMI leadership Jackie Hu (COO, IMI plc) and Richard Yu (Head of Sector Ops) in the room. We're proud to also have our ventures from our portfolio, HySights and ThermoTune share their venture journey during the session. Thank you to our wonderful organising partner: e27 (Optimatic) VCs attendees: ABD Ventures, ACV_VC, Altara Ventures, Analog Ventures, B Capital, Cento Ventures, Clime Capital, Elev8 Venture Partners, Genesis Alternative Ventures, Monk's Hill Ventures, Openspace Capital, Plug and Play Tech Center, SEEDS Capital SG, SOSV HAX, Starburst Ventures, TNB Aura, Vertex Ventures SE Asia & India, 500 Global #IMIplc #IMIVentureStudio #VentureCapital #Fundraising #NewVentures #VentureBuilding #Founders #Startups #Innovation #Deeptech #Energy #Industrials
