Canada Hiring Trends – October 2025 Canada’s talent market remains stable, but the real story goes beyond the numbers. Unemployment is steady at 6.9%, and wage growth is 3.3% YoY (Statistics Canada, Oct 2025). Yet demand for Cloud, Cybersecurity, Data, and Engineering professionals is accelerating across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. This isn’t a slowdown — it’s a market shift. Companies are prioritizing transferable skills and execution capability over titles, seeking talent that can adapt and deliver results immediately. From my experience across Canadian markets, one trend is clear: adaptable talent always finds opportunity. I’d love to hear from my network: Do you see this trend in your organization? Are companies in your region focusing more on skills than titles? If you’re ready to explore your next role let’s connect. Interesting jobs update in september! Canada added 60,000 jobs in September, and the jobless rate is still 7.1%. What does that mean? Companies are hiring again, but they’re being extra picky about skills and value. Now is a smart time to move! Talent is available, but specialized skills are still hard to find. Acting early could make all the difference before demand picks up again! Read our report here!

Canadian Job Market – A Gradual Turnaround? 🇨🇦 The last few months have been among the slowest I’ve seen in recent years — very few interview opportunities and slower recruiter responses. But October finally brought some positive signs, with better engagement and outreach compared to the summer. Looking at the data, the trend makes sense: July 2025: Canada shed ~40,800 jobs (-0.2%), one of the weakest months since the pandemic. August 2025: Another -66,000 jobs, pushing unemployment to 7.1%, reflecting a clear slowdown. September 2025: A modest rebound — +60,400 jobs (+0.3%), though unemployment held steady at 7.1%. October 2025 (preliminary): Early indicators show +15,000 jobs and unemployment around 6.5%, suggesting a slow but steady improvement. If this trend continues, we could see a healthier hiring window through mid-December 2025, before the usual year-end slowdown, and another pickup from the third week of January 2026 onward — consistent with Canada’s seasonal hiring cycles. One big takeaway from these quieter months: Consistency pays off. Regular posting, engaging with content, and staying active on LinkedIn helps hiring managers rediscover your profile — and sometimes, that visibility opens unexpected opportunities. #CanadaJobs #HiringTrends #LinkedInTips #CareerGrowth #JobSearchJourney #Networking

The job market in Canada is challenging — but growth starts elsewhere. Finding a job here isn’t easy. But over time, I’ve realized that developing yourself professionally isn’t only about landing the right role. It begins with interest. I’ve had three jobs in Canada — and none of them came through LinkedIn, HR processes, or the five or six rounds of interviews we’ve all been dragged through. Because the hiring process today has become a kind of mummery — a hollow ritual — and a pantomime, where everyone performs competence, empathy, and alignment without much truth in it. Hiring managers, in many cases, have learned to exploit this process — hiding behind systems, dragging it out, and turning something human into something mechanical. Every opportunity I’ve had came another way. Through conversations. Through curiosity. Through taking genuine interest in people and their worlds. When I worked at a QSR chain once, I started as a chef, then became a cashier, then customer experience (CXM) and marketing manager, and eventually head of marketing. That didn’t happen because of a résumé or a hiring system. It happened because I was curious — about people, their work, their choices, their energy, and how things actually functioned day to day. And when I say interest, I mean it completely. Interest in people’s tastes, their music, their media habits, their worldview, their frustrations, their ways of solving problems, their stories. Interest in what shapes them — not just what they do for a living. When you start seeing people from that 360-degree lens, your own understanding expands. You begin to see opportunities in places no algorithm will ever suggest. Growth doesn’t start with a job posting or an HR screening. It starts with curiosity — with talking, listening, and paying attention to the world around you.

In Canada, navigating the job market can be challenging, as there is a significant preference for contractors willing to accept $20 per hour over highly skilled individuals. This trend raises questions about the dynamics of the job market and the value placed on expertise. After a month of actively seeking employment without success, the job search process can become disheartening. The use of AI in hiring practices is on the rise, impacting both employers and job seekers. Unfortunately, this shift has led to qualified candidates having minimal opportunities to engage directly with hiring teams, as they often get filtered out in the process. #Canada #Vancouver #IT #Hiring #Employees #Unemployment #AI

Canada Post Is About to Cut 10,000 Jobs? How It Reveals a Bigger Truth About the Future of Work in Canada Mass layoffs don’t just impact one organization, they reshape communities, careers, and the entire Canadian job market. Canada Post’s transformation is a wake-up call for every professional, newcomer, and job seeker in this country. As someone working in HR Canada, Workforce Development, and Career Coaching, here’s the real story behind the headlines. ✅ Canada Post Is Facing a Crisis And Tough Decisions Are Coming The organization has been losing money for 7 straight years. - Mail volumes are collapsing. - Parcel competition is exploding. - And the federal government is no longer willing to bail it out endlessly. This means: • Home delivery will shrink • Rural/urban post offices may close • At least 10,000 jobs may be cut (mostly through retirements + restructuring) • Many roles will transform or become obsolete But this isn’t just about Canada Post. This is about how rapidly Canadian workplaces are changing, and how unprepared many professionals are for that change. ✅ The Future of Work Is Restructuring Everything, Not Just One Employer When a 150-year-old national institution starts reinventing itself, it signals a career reality we can’t ignore: • Automation is accelerating • Digital adoption is replacing traditional roles • Labour shortages and labour disputes are co-existing • Organizations must become leaner, faster, more adaptive For newcomers and job seekers, this means one thing: You cannot rely on yesterday’s skills for tomorrow’s opportunities. ✅ What This Means for You (My Advice as a Career Coach & Job Developer) If Canada Post is restructuring, every industry is watching and preparing to do the same. Your competitive advantage will depend on your ability to: • Rebuild your skills every 12–18 months • Strengthen digital and customer-centric capabilities • Adapt to hybrid, tech-enabled roles • Prepare for career transitions, not lifetime careers • Understand labour market trends, not just job postings Whether you’re a student, newcomer, mid-career worker, or HR professional: Career stability now depends on career agility. Do you think Canada Post’s restructuring is necessary or a warning sign of bigger changes coming across Canada’s labour market? #CareerDevelopment #HRCanada #CanadianJobMarket #CareerCoach #HumanResources #LinkedInTopVoice #TheNaveedShah

5moVery relevant insight, Kabir Waliya. The growing focus on adaptability over designations is reshaping how candidates can position themselves. This change also pushes job seekers to highlight skills and impact rather than titles.
