WIP UPDATE PART 2 for Opal, my newest 3D cinematic short in Epic Games.
In this video, I share a key tip for re-targeting mocap from the Move AI rig onto the UE Manny rig, which will hopefully save all the first-time users out there a lot of animation cleanup. Now that the mocap filming is done, I can finalize rigging and lock in cinematography and story pacing.
Next WIP update coming next week!

Transferable Behind the Scenes: 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
🎬 Agora Studio’s first short film, Transferable was four years in the making. Created as we were building the studio and navigating a global pandemic, the project pushed us to our limits in ways we weren’t always sure we could overcome. Yet it also became one of the most creatively rewarding experiences of our careers. This five-part behind-the-scenes series shares the challenges, breakthroughs, and people who brought this film to life.
This episode explores Transferable performance and animation, showcasing how our team brought the characters to life in ways that are both memorable and emotionally impactful. 💫

🎃 Gameplay Trailer Reveal - “Trick Me A Treat” 🎬
We’re excited to share the gameplay trailer for our upcoming horror minigame, Trick Me A Treat, showcasing how we’ve implemented:
👻 Polished trigger-based jumpscares
🎧 Proper game audio design - from ambient layers and SFX to logic-based audio cues
🎥 Carefully built sequencer cinematics that reflect our understanding of camera and storytelling
Further gameplay motives and mechanics will be revealed later this month. The game carries its own lore, and we’ll soon be introducing voice acting, motion capture, and a fully realized character to bring that world to life.
This marks a milestone for both of us -
🎮 Riddhiman Dutta, in his game audio journey, refining sound and atmosphere to enhance the horror experience.
🎵 Myself, Sibasish Dey, in my mechanics and development journey, reaching new levels of polish.
Together, we’ve combined our years of experience in cinematography, storytelling, and audio direction to push this project beyond a prototype - toward something that feels consumer-ready.
We’re truly grateful for your continued support as we keep striving toward real production-level polish in our games.
Stay tuned - this is just the beginning. 🕯️

"Required over 700 VFX shots, mostly 3D animation on wider shots and stunts. According to director Isaiah Saxon "I think that CG and VFX have gotten this tarnished reputation a little bit, largely because of the corporatization and over-reliance on it. But truly, it's a bespoke, tedious craft and art that is full of passionate people, really brilliant people. At any effects house in the world, you'll find people who are just so dedicated to their craft. And the problem is more at the top, it's big corporate studios who don't create schedules that make any sense.""

Saying something has "No CGI" or "No VFX" in a film/show is not cool, especially when there's obvious CGI/VFX in them and there are even credits countering these statements. You're essentially insulting and slapping an entire hard-working department in the face and seemingly trying to discredit and erase them.
We are here, we always have been, so please for the love of filmmaking, stop this trend.
We can all appreciate practical approaches, but VFX exists in ways that many people forget so please remember that we're all collaborating artists and we all deserve respect for one another's craft without trying to erase each other's contributions.
