Stop using inaccessible PDFs. Let’s be honest — we’ve all opened a PDF that looked fine visually… but was impossible to read with a screen reader, or had text stuck inside images. For many people, that’s not just inconvenient — it’s exclusion. We help organizations make their PDFs fully accessible and compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, AODA, and PDF/UA standards — so everyone, regardless of ability, can access information equally. Because accessibility isn’t just about compliance — it’s about doing what’s right. Let’s make your next document accessible, together.

In case you're wondering how reliable the MS Word "similarity check" is in its "Editor" function: it just found 10 similarities to online content in a file that is just website text collated into 46 pages. ALT: It should have flagged almost every line as existing online verbatim, but did not.

I've been teaching myself PDF remediation for accessibility for work, and oh boy, if you're making a Word document and plan to convert it to PDF, please make it accessible first to make the PDF easier for screen reader users to navigate! You'll save everyone time and headache, and your content can be consumed by more people. Everyone wins! 😁 #accessibility #pdf

If your team is rescuing unreadable PDFs, fix it at the source: flatbed > phone, 300 dpi B/W, rotate/deskew, searchable PDF, one file per provider, no stamps over text, and re-scan blurry pages. Fewer headaches, faster citations. Read the quick guide → https://lnkd.in/gGanCbaP

BMJ is using Data Conversion Laboratory's Content Crystallizer for The BMJ! As my colleague David M. Turner said, "The value of Content Crystallizer for The BMJ is that we’ve automated multiple editorial tasks and checks, as well as created lookups of third-party data from sources like Crossref and PubMed—all customized to The BMJ’s specific requirements. Yet the solution includes human-in-the-loop review, which is proving to be the winning approach for research integrity and editorial excellence." READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/etVv4_hC

What does the future of the bid profession look like? This topic is discussed frequently, especially as AI continues to impact the proposal process. In her presentation during VisibleThread ’s Optimize event this week, Leonie Thomas • Infrastructure bid writer ✍️ engaged attendees with survey questions to gauge our thoughts about the future of proposals. Here are the top insights I captured: ❔Where do you think the bid writer role will sit in five years? 44% responded: A key strategic partner shaping win strategy ❔What will add the most value to bids in the future? 51% responded: Collaboration between humans and AI ❔Which quality best describes a great bid writer? 49% responded: Clarity and structure ❔What’s the biggest opportunity for bid writers in the next decade? 40% responded: Redefining our professional identity The answers are fascinating. While many of us see the bid profession evolving in the next 5-10 years, clarity and structure remain a cornerstone of what we do. As I remind myself often: “Compliance is king.” Building on the survey, Leonie shared what she views as the Future Skillset for proposal pros: 💜 Strategic thinking 💜 Stakeholder engagement 💜 Coaching and interviewing 💜 Ethical AI use 💜 Resilience and curiosity She discussed how bid writers will be viewed as less of a support role and more of a strategic partner. How we will use technology to enhance what we do rather than replace what we do. How we can shape the message and facilitate collaboration throughout the bid process. And a personal fav—how we can bring calm and confidence to the team. Finally, Leonie gave a piece of advice that mirrors the words of one of my writing professors. “Read widely.” To be a better writer, READ. Read anything, read everything. Read to understand how language is used and the impact it can make. Are there any insights here that resonate with you?
