International Women's Day: Reflections on Industry Events and Inspirational Leadership In celebration of International Women's Day, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the last two major industry events I attended, each uniquely shaped by the presence and influence of remarkable WOMEN leaders. Viticus Group - Animal Health (Formerly WVC) may seem like a distant memory, but it was only a few weeks ago that I had the privilege of reconnecting with some of the most intelligent, kind, fascinating, and undeniably strong leaders in animal health. Andrea Davis, your contributions to the industry are greatly appreciated. The way you lead with such grace and make everything look effortless is truly admirable and, as we know, making it look easy is often the most difficult feat. WVC consistently provides the perfect setting for meaningful, in-depth conversations with colleagues I deeply value but rarely get enough time with. It was wonderful to see Kelly O'Brien, Kathy Mitchell, Julie Davidson, MBA, Brenda Andresen, and so many others whose leadership and friendship mean so much to me. There were so many other thoughtful connections that I didn't capture in photos, but I wish I had. AHNTI: Another Event Led by Remarkable Women I just returned from London after attending Kisaco Research's AHNTI EU 2026, another fantastic gathering shaped by a strong female leader. Sarah Clayton, it was a pleasure seeing you again and witnessing the incredible atmosphere your team continues to create. You inspire me with your ability to mentor and empower bright, capable young women, like Niamh Gallagher, who stood out this year with her phenomenal work, and I absolutely love watching future leaders such as Poppy Howard-Wall grow in their careers, which is truly fulfilling. This year’s event was packed with important discussions, and it was inspiring to see so many top women leaders both on stage and in attendance. Linda Black, DVM, PhD, Rebecca Windsor, DVM, DACVIM, Susan Groeneveld, and Alison Heather, I am continually impressed by everything you are bringing to the market and look forward to seeing your ongoing successes. There were so many senior leaders at these events sharing their expertise and insight that it would be impossible to list them all here. My gratitude goes out to each of you for consistently showing up and driving our industry forward. Overall, it was a wonderful mix of catching up with old friends like Jaime Bochet and meeting new ones like Sarah Gillings and Peggy I Pleines It was made even more special to have Heaven Goodwin, CFP® attend with me this year. I loved watching her experience all the magic that happens when you bring the right people together and allow them the space to have meaningful conversations. Thanks to all the strong women leaders out there who "Give to Gain," I can confidently say I always gain more than I give when surrounded by such inspirational women.

Women in History Month-From Soil to Table to Glass I’m honored to share that Brenae Royal will be joining us on March 19th as part of our Women in History Month event, presented through our Food for Thought Speaker Series at the University of California, Merced Our theme this year, “From Soil to Table to Glass” highlights the powerful connections between agriculture, food, wine, and the women who are shaping the future of these industries. Originally from Atwater, California, Brenae joined us at our very first Women in History Month event alongside author Natalie Baszile while she was working in vineyard operations at E. & J. Gallo Winery. Even then, she was already breaking ground, becoming one of the youngest and first Black women to manage the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard and helping lead its transition toward organic farming practices. Today, she is the Founder & CEO of Violet’s Paradise, a wine brand rooted in heritage, intentionality, and community impact. Through Violet’s Paradise, Brenae is: • Crafting vineyard-driven wines that honor the land. • Investing in future agricultural leaders through the Violet’s Paradise Agriculture Scholarship with The Veraison Project • Expanding representation and opportunity in viticulture and wine Her leadership has earned national recognition, including Wine Enthusiast’s 40 Under 40, but what continues to inspire me most is her commitment to community and access. From a young woman growing up in the Central Valley… to vineyard leadership… to entrepreneurship and scholarship creation… Brenae’s story is truly one of soil, table, and glass and the power of building something meaningful from the ground up. I’m deeply grateful for the continued partnership and support of UC Merced’s Division of Equity, Justice, and Inclusive Excellence (EJIE), whose collaboration makes the Food for Thought Speaker Series possible and allows us to bring these impactful voices to campus. More details to come — but please mark your calendars for March 19th. #FoodForThought #WomenInHistoryMonth #FromSoilToTableToGlass #WomenInAg #CentralValleyLeadership #UCMerced

Embedding nature into enterprise strategy is one of the biggest blockers to meaningful corporate action for nature. That's the consensus from business leaders who we’ve gained insights from through our co-hosted event late last year with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew ‘Accelerating Corporate Nature Positive Journeys’ and ongoing Nature and Biodiversity Peer Group events. So our team got to work 🌿 We've been busy building a series of practical guides to tackle the most common challenges corporates face on their nature journey, and the first one is live now! It focuses on making the business case for nature: actionable steps to build a compelling argument, win internal traction, and get the buy-in that actually moves things forward. We'd love to know what you think - find the link to the guide here: https://lnkd.in/eHX_yXe8

As we recognize Women’s History Month, I’ve been reflecting on the shoulders our industry stands on — and the women who helped build the framework for modern pest management. One name that stands out is Dr. Margaret S. Collins (1922–1996). Known as the “Termite Lady,” she became the first African American woman to earn a PhD in entomology. Her research in termite taxonomy didn’t just expand scientific knowledge — it elevated the credibility and precision of our profession. At a time when both science and opportunity were limited for women, she broke barriers academically and socially as a civil rights advocate. That level of courage matters. Especially in industries like ours that have historically been male-dominated. Fast forward to today. Here in Florida, we’ve seen the impact of leaders like Dr. Faith Oi at the University of Florida. Through Pest Management University (PMU), she helped formalize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training — which is now foundational to how responsible companies operate. IPM isn’t just about controlling pests. It’s about protecting families. It’s about environmental stewardship. It’s about using science and strategy over shortcuts. In 2016, only 3.25% of the U.S. pest control workforce was comprised of women. While that number is still growing, progress is happening — supported by organizations like the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), which promotes leadership and recognition through programs such as the Impact Awards for Women in Pest Management. As a business owner in this industry, I can say this: The future of pest management depends on diversity of thought, leadership, and perspective. To the women in labs, trucks, offices, classrooms, and boardrooms — thank you for strengthening this profession. And to the next generation watching — there is room for you here. #WomensHistoryMonth #Leadership #PestManagement #IPM #IndustryGrowth

🌍 What if students could lead the transformation of our global food systems? Tomorrow, I will be representing New Roots Institute at the Sustainability Network Walk-In (SNWI) during the Under 2° Fest 2026 at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. Together with Tushti Chopra, Fellow at New Roots Institute, we will be introducing students to the work of New Roots Institute and discussing how young leaders can drive change in one of the most important systems shaping our planet — the global food system. Factory farming today impacts animals, the environment, and public health. Addressing these challenges requires more than awareness — it requires leadership, advocacy, and collective action. Through programs like the Leadership Academy Fellowship, New Roots Institute equips students with the knowledge, skills, and community needed to become effective advocates for sustainable and compassionate food systems. In our session, we’ll explore: 🌱 Why transforming food systems is critical for the future 🌱 How students can become advocates for change 🌱 Opportunities to join a global network of young leaders working on sustainability and animal advocacy I’m grateful for the opportunity to engage with students who are passionate about creating a more ethical and sustainable world. 📍 Azim Premji University, Bengaluru 📅 7 March 2026 ⏰ 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Looking forward to meaningful conversations and inspiring more people to move from awareness to action. #NewRootsInstitute #FoodSystems #Sustainability #AnimalAdvocacy #StudentLeadership #Under2Fest #AzimPremjiUniversity

We had planned to take our next step this week... but chose to give ourselves a little more time. Building something meaningful requires care. We’re being intentional as we finalize key leadership roles, ensuring the foundation reflects the level of integrity and alignment this work deserves. Our mission is clear: to advance scientific research on mycotoxin-related illness, support pathways for effective treatment so physicians can confidently care for these patients, and help shape policy so that access to care is no longer a privilege but a standard. Alongside this, we’re developing a documentary with our partners to capture the real experiences of physicians and patients today, and to bring greater awareness to both prevention and care. Thank you for being part of this with us. More soon.
