My biggest SaaS mistake? Building a black box. Cactivate, my first venture, was a "take it or leave it" optimization algorithm. It was a black box. One thing I learned in my journey from Cactivate to AgentMark is to build white-boxes instead. AI will never grasp a client's story and brand as well as a great marketer. We needed to empower marketers. That's why we pivoted to AgentMark. We let marketers define their rules. They create their agents. They execute what they want. "When you look at the first few years of television, it was basically radio with a camera pointed at the speaker." 👈 Steve Jobs back in 1983. I shared a post last week from Steve Job's speech from over 40 years ago. He was speaking about a different piece of technology, but the underlying principle was the same: When you have a revolutionary new medium, most people use it with a traditional approach for several years before trying something new. AI isn't necessarily a medium (unless you count it as a new search platform), but, again, the underlying principle is spot on. Now at Fullcast, my goal is beat the bell-curve on this by continuing what we'd built at Copy.ai. I don't want to limit our marketing to traditional methods sped up by AI. I want to create new ways of doing things, and the first step is getting rid of silos that blocked sales, marketing, and customer success. Right now, chat tools are helping folks create content faster within their department (marketing assets, sure, but also sales emails, ABM landers, etc.) But what if orgs could standardize messaging, and help everyone work toward the same goal with the same message? Not as a "teams" sport broken up into sub-departments, but as a unified team sport. I know we're about to see a boom of creative, hungry, and intelligent RevOps professionals redefine how products go-to-market. And seeing the leadership team here at Fullcast, I can already tell we're going to lead the way. They aren't interested in how orgs used to do things. They're interested in how orgs are going to operate in 2030, and already delivering on that promise in 2025. In other words, it's incredibly cool to be a part of a team that isn't pointing a camera at a radio speaker.
