We are teaching students what to learn, but are we teaching them how to learn? Many university students spend countless hours on passive study habits—like rereading notes and color-coding highlighters—only to face burnout and subpar exam results. Research consistently shows that active testing is significantly more effective than passive review. Bevinzey was built to bridge this gap, transitioning students from overwhelming administrative study tasks to high-leverage active recall. By instantly converting standard coursework into adaptive practice questions, exam simulations, and personalized AI tutoring, we help over 50,000+ students optimize their cognitive load. If you are looking to maximize your academic efficiency and retain information longer, it's time to shift your strategy. The AI threat to higher education is real. I am not dismissing it. But the entire conversation is scoped to the classroom. Higher education's strongest case was never just the classroom. It was the mentoring, the belonging, the co-curricular experiences, the communities that shape who students become. We left all of that out of the argument. It is time to put it back in. Wheels turning at different speeds. For experienced teachers, an academic year can pass by in a blink. But a school year really is a long time in AI, and for the children we teach, it's an eternity that we can easily let slip away. It's strange to reflect that it was only a few months ago that Jason Bradbury shot past a roomful of school leaders at the Berkhamsted School IT Conference on a hoverboard to talk about how much tomorrow's world (or at least The Gadget Show) has come to meet us over the last few decades, and what it might mean for the world of work in the years to come, and I talked to attendees about the threats and opportunities of AI in the classroom. Later, Ian Silk and I had a chat about his plans for this event and the opportunity to review the year again as we approached the end of it. A lot has changed in the meantime. As white papers are published, new curricula are drafted and competing AI companies release new models with new capabilities on a monthly basis, I've been needing to update my talking points (and schemes of work) pretty much week to week since then and I have no doubt that will continue right up to the day. What hasn't changed is our responsibility to provide the best possible education and a safe environment for our children so that they are inspired and protected in a world changing faster every year. Looking forward to meeting delegates to talk about Great Power and Great Responsibility – AI for Teaching and Learning in Prep Schools. I can't promise a hoverboard though.

Out of left field, U.S. News and World Report featured the AI project I’ve been working on as “the latest EdTech resource rave”. Proud of our work at College Guidance Network to build an expert-trained, AI-powered virtual guidance counselor for high school students and parents. https://lnkd.in/eaq4WCZa

Faculty workload, in numbers: A Maclean’s survey found professors spend: → 22 hours/week on teaching → 26 hours/week on admin + research That’s already more than a full-time workload. And now instructors are being asked for more personalized learning, faster feedback, and higher engagement. This is where AI fits. Not as a replacement, but as a way to automate the repetitive work (grading, rubrics, lesson planning…) So educators can spend more time where it matters most: with students #QuadC #AIinHigherEd #College #University #AdminTasks Source: https://lnkd.in/eKA2FfKq

Even the best teacher cannot personalise 40 students. The 1:40 classroom ratio is quietly breaking learning. We blame students. We praise teachers. We ignore the structure. This isn’t a teaching problem. It’s a scale problem. → One teacher, 40 students → Same lesson, different speeds → Some keep up, some fall behind ❌ Better teaching fixes it ✅ Better systems support it What actually works: → AI adapts pace for each student → Flags gaps in real time → Handles repetition without fatigue → Teachers focus on clarity, not crowd control Precision + empathy wins. Less guessing. More visibility. Better outcomes. So choose: Better teachers alone or teachers with intelligent support? #AIEducation #LearningSystems #PersonalisedLearning
