The EWS1090VP is part of the company’s SABER family of mission systems and is developed using a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). The system aligns with U.S. Army CMOSS, SOSA™, and OpenVPX™ standards and is built on the legacy SX-1000 platform using commercial off-the-shelf components. The U.S. Army said it has successfully tested the Extended Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System at White Sands Missile Range, firing the Alternative Warhead variant from an M270A2 launcher for the first time. The test verified precision, lethality and integration with existing launchers, completing system qualification testing for the variant. According to the Army, ER GMLRS reaches 150 kilometres, twice the range of the standard munition, allowing commanders to engage high-value, time-critical targets from greater standoff distances. The capability can be employed using HIMARS and M270A2 platforms already in service, providing a cost-effective strike option without new launch vehicles or changes to unit structure. “Extended Range GMLRS demonstrates how the Army and industry are working together to deliver meaningful capability at the pace of relevance,” said Lt. Gen.
