Recovery, partnership, and future opportunities – these was discussed this week at our Communities Development Office, during the meetig with representatives of EU4Reconstruction – a joint initiative of the European Union and the governments of Denmark, Germany, France, and Lithuania aimed at strengthening the capacities of the Ministry for Restoration, the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development, and local municipalities. Together with Archil Zhorzholiani and Oksana Pozyvailo we discussed how to make support for community-led recovery initiatives more transparent, targeted, and effective. We shared ISDC’s experience in developing and implementing community-level projects, as well as our insights into the real needs of the region and the crucial role of civil society organisations in rebuilding and restoring trust between people and authorities. The EU4Reconstruction team is now working on new tools to support civil society organisations and media engaged in recovery processes. For us in ISDC, this meeting was an opportunity to contribute to shaping a vision for effective recovery financing and to identify common ground for future cooperation. The ISDC Communities Development Office operates with the support of the #ImpulseForCSOs project, implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation and the East Europe Foundation (EEF), funded by the governments of Norway (Norad - Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) and Sweden (Sida).
