MORPC hosted a highly successful Consultant Open House yesterday, showcasing a range of upcoming, regionally significant transportation planning, land use, engineering, and construction projects across Central Ohio. The industry outreach event brought together 80+ professionals representing more than 45 businesses and organizations. It provided a valuable opportunity for consultants to connect with public agencies and collaborate on shaping world-class programs and projects for our region. A big thank you to our partners Ohio Department of Transportation, Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), The Ohio State University, City of Columbus, and the The Franklin County Engineer's Office for partnering with us.

As fuel prices approach $5 per gallon, the cost of getting to work is becoming a real strain for many employees. Rising commute expenses can impact job satisfaction, attendance, and ultimately employee retention. Offering carpool options is a simple, cost-free way for employers to help offset these challenges. By enabling employees to share fuel and vehicle costs, organizations can ease financial pressure, support workforce stability, and demonstrate responsiveness to employee needs. 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐡𝐢𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬: Now may be the right time to consider a free carpool program for your employees. MORPC’s Gohio Commute Rideshare program offers use of our free rideshare software to assist your employees with finding carpool partners along with Emergency Ride Home and Commuter Rewards Programs. Schedule time with our team at gohio@morpc.org to explore how our free program offerings can benefit your employees.

Future Forward! It was a packed room at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) Annual State of the Region Luncheon—and a powerful conversation about the growth shaping our future. COCIC was proud to be a sponsor of such an impactful event. Insightful remarks from keynote Greg Lindsay, along with former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and public policy leader Marcia Hale, highlighted both the opportunities and challenges ahead. Key themes that stood out: • Affordable housing demand is reaching a critical point and is a key driver in economic development. • High speed rail and transit investment are essential to connectivity and access. • Attracting and retaining young professionals is key to long-term economic strength. • AI isn’t just coming, it’s here. Thank you to MORPC for hosting such an outstanding event, and a big congratulations to this year’s award winners for their leadership and lasting impact across our region. #MORPC #SOTR #AffordableHousing #ETOD #EconomicDevelopment
