If you grew up in 70s–80s Australia, you might remember this: “Budget drives your dollar further”. I remember Bob Ansett’s TV advertising for Budget Rent a Car – starring himself – so clearly. Even back then, the brand promise and the catchy tagline struck a chord with me. For entrepreneurs, the story of Bob Ansett’s transformation of the Australian (and later the world’s) car rental industry is inspirational. Starting out in 1965 with just two vehicles, Bob spent a lot of time behind the desk, understanding his customers’ needs. If he didn’t have the vehicle they wanted, he’d dash across town to his competitors, Avis, rent a vehicle from them and sub-let it to his customers. He began to redefine business practices in his industry – introducing the first 24-hour service, free pick-up and delivery, and simplified pricing when competitors relied on complex fee structures. His customer-centric philosophy became a blueprint for service excellence that transcended his industry. The complex rivalry with his father, Sir Reginald Ansett, who founded Ansett Airlines and went on to buy Avis, pushed Bob to do things his own way. I was thrilled to be able to talk to Bob Ansett for our latest Savvy Dentist podcast episode. His remarkable journey offers valuable insights for any practice owner looking to disrupt markets and build customer loyalty in competitive environments. He was one of Australia's most sought-after motivational speakers, sharing practical wisdom on entrepreneurship, resilience and innovation. But my latest podcast is a rare opportunity. Understandably, at the age of 91, Bob’s doing less motivational speaking than he used to – but he’s no less inspirational. Tune in now>> https://lnkd.in/gQKfHpJ9

From Struggling Agency to 8-Figure Empire: Russ Perry’s story about how he developed Design Pickle. Russ Perry went from closing a dying creative agency to building Design Pickle—an eight-figure subscription design service working on 10,000-15,000 projects monthly. But his path to success wasn't about being more creative or doing flashy work. It was about focusing on the boring, repetitive design tasks nobody else wanted to systematize. In this episode, Russ reveals: ✓ Why figuring out the parts of the business that were working the best and not stressing him out led to going all in on a model that made all the difference. ✓ The positioning strategy that differentiated Design Pickle without changing the actual service ✓ How he built a custom platform managing 300-500 designers across the globe ✓ His framework for making better decisions when you only have 50-50 odds ✓ Why knowing your exit strategy NOW makes daily operations exponentially easier ✓ The one investment that's driven all his success (hint: it's probably not what you think) Whether you're drowning in client work, struggling to scale, or just looking for a fresh perspective on building a profitable business, this conversation is packed with actionable insights you can implement immediately. You know you *should* be building your personal brand. You also know you have exactly zero extra hours in your day. The advice is endless: "Post 3x a day!" "Be on every platform!" "Start a podcast!" For a founder, this isn't just overwhelming; it's impossible. It turns personal branding into a second full-time job you never signed up for. That’s why I stopped thinking in "tasks" and started thinking in "systems." I call it The Founder's Flywheel. It’s not about doing more. It's about creating a self-reinforcing loop where each action builds on the last, generating momentum with minimal, focused effort. Here's the 3-part system: 1️⃣ **CREATE Once, Distribute Infinitely** Instead of creating 10 small, forgettable posts, create ONE cornerstone piece of content per week (a deep-dive article, a podcast episode, a client case study). Then, atomize it into dozens of smaller assets: LinkedIn posts, tweets, graphics, and short videos. Maximum leverage, minimum creation time. 2️⃣ **ENGAGE with Intent** Stop scrolling aimlessly. Spend a focused 15 minutes a day engaging with 5-10 specific people: key customers, industry leaders, potential partners. Leave thoughtful comments, share their work, and build real relationships. This is surgical, not a shotgun blast. 3️⃣ **AMPLIFY with Systems** Your time is your most valuable asset. Use simple tools to schedule your "distributed" content, templatize your outreach, and track conversations. Automate the mechanics so you can focus on the authentic human connection that actually drives results. The goal isn't to become a full-time creator. The goal is to build authority and generate inbound opportunities (investors, talent, customers) so you can focus on what matters most: building your business. What's your biggest struggle with balancing your brand and your business? #Founder #PersonalBranding #StartupLife #Entrepreneurship #ContentStrategy #Leadership

After eight years, one key lesson stands out: focus is essential for entrepreneurs. While some might argue that managing two businesses is already challenging, adding a third could be overwhelming. This platform will serve as a space to share content, thoughts, and the journey of building a brand. Given the past seven to eight years spent creating content to build a personal brand, a vlog or solo podcast seems like the next logical step. #entrepreneurship #focus #brandbuilding #contentcreation #personalbranding

Want to learn from the top 1% of e-commerce and retail experts to solve your biggest business challenges in minutes, not months or years of trial and error? That’s exactly what Kenny Hanson, CEO & Founder of MentorPass built. It’s a platform that connects entrepreneurs with mentors who’ve built brands like Bloom Nutrition, Louis Vuitton, Native Deodorant, and Athletic Greens. After six years at Accenture in the DC area Kenny moved to Bali, where he started working on MentorPass. I loved this conversation because it wasn’t just about business, it was about why he built it. We talked travel, business growth, how businesses can save money leveraging the right credit card strategies to build a life with freedom at the center. It pushed me to invest in monthly MentorPass sessions with Nick Shackelford, who dropped powerful agency insights and donates his earnings to a dog rescue. Something close to our hearts since my wife’s fostered for years and we just celebrated our 2-year adoption anniversary with Morty yesterday. If you stick around until the end of the episode, Kenny and I dig into live coaching for e-commerce and retail founders: → Smart credit card strategies → Costly mistakes to avoid → Simple systems to earn rewards automatically It’s rare to find someone building a company that actually empowers founders at every level. Kenny’s doing exactly that. If you’re scaling an e-commerce or retail business, want to learn from proven operators, and want to make your credit card spend work for you, check out MentorPass and catch our full episode. Sometimes the best lessons come from seeing what's broken. We're breaking down every red flag you need to spot before signing that contract. Full episode on YouTube. Here's a great way to piss off clients... (Follow @amyvanmeijl for more) Step 1: Connect with them, get them excited about working with you (don't talk about money, fees, etc - as far as they know, it's FREE) Step 2: Book a session/interview/call/service (pick the date, time, etc) (still no cash talk 🤫) Step 3: Be late putting the booking on the calendar (oops, life is busy) ... (step 4 is a doozy, are you ready?) ... Step 4: Tell them it's actually a paid service and then casually ask for their email so you can collect your fee and that you'll actually book the session AFTER it's paid (which you surprised them with...) BONUS MARKS... Step 5: Become defensive if asked for further information when demanding payment Look, talking about money can be uncomfortable, I get it. But NOT talking about it, and then SURPRISING people with a fee is NOT the way to go. Not only will you lose clients, you're lose three things you'll *never* get back: * Trust * Credibility * Respect It's ok if you goofed (we've all been there), but own up to it. This week on the 🎙️ Manifesting Millions Podcast I'm taking this hot topic on full force. Because your clients deserve better and your BUSINESS deserves better. Just because it makes you feel icky, doesn't mean you can avoid it. Grab Ep. 179 on your fav podcast platform today #BusinessBasics #Entrepreneurship #ServiceBasedBusiness #Solopreneur #Money
