It's one of those posts… After more than a decade at Slalom, I'm on the path to my next opportunity (like so many others impacted over the past few years). I really appreciated my time at Slalom working with great teams, great clients and on unique, ever-changing, and challenging projects. But, in that comfort, I didn't stretch and take much risk - and while jarring at first – I'm really excited to not know what the future holds. In the past twenty years (a score!!) of consulting, I've seen multiple cycles of technology modernization... from green screens to the cloud – and like everyone else, amazed every day by AI – not just for our clients – but for my own work. Limitations I had (ex. UI Design) are a thing of the past. Being able to finally visualize my ideas, at speed, feels almost superhuman. At the same time, I might value my legacy experience more – it taught me how to think and solve problems – now I can just do more and go both faster and farther. AI makes my new reality so much less daunting – it empowers me to think differently about what I can do for a company or client - or what I could build on my own. -- on the personal side -- I've already caught up with several people I haven't spoken to in years – and every single one has been a genuinely enjoyable conversation. I have the time to catch up – and that's what I'm focused on first.
