I'm proud of the partnership taking shape between Purdue Polytechnic and Visual Components to create a digital twin of our Smart Learning Factory. This collaboration gives our students hands-on experience with industry-grade manufacturing simulation—designing, testing, and programming systems virtually before moving to the physical lab. It’s a strong example of how we’re preparing students with the tools and thinking they’ll use in today’s manufacturing environments. https://lnkd.in/gedw5gYe

🚀🤖 Meet the TinkRbot Explorer 🤖🚀 Learning comes to life when students build something that moves. The TinkRbot Explorer gives students the opportunity to design, assemble, wire, and program their very own robotic vehicle — and the learning goes far beyond the build. From the first bolt tightened 🔩 to the final line of code 💻, students experience what real engineering looks like. What Students Learn: 🔧⚙️ Engineering & Mechanical Design Assemble a functional robotic chassis Understand motors, torque, and movement 🛞 Explore structure, stability, and iteration 📐 💻🧠 Coding & Computational Thinking Program movement and sensor response Apply logic, sequencing, and algorithms Debug and problem-solve like real developers 🧩 ⚡🔋 Electronics & Circuits Work with motors, ultrasonic sensors 📡, and controllers Understand inputs/outputs and system communication See how power ⚡ brings a design to life 📊📈 Data & Analysis Test performance and measure results Adjust variables and refine outcomes Build confidence through iteration 🤝🌍 Collaboration & Workforce Skills Team-based problem solving Project planning and execution Communication and presentation skills The best part? Students don’t just use technology — they engineer it 🛠️🤖 Hands-on. Standards-aligned. Future-ready. 🚀 #STEM #Robotics #EngineeringEducation #ComputerScience #HandsOnLearning #FutureReady #TinkRworks

We are training the next generation of engineers on "Black Boxes." This has to stop. Imagine trying to learn how an internal combustion engine works, but the hood of the car is welded shut. You can turn the key, you can steer, but you are forbidden from seeing the engine. That is the state of most robotics classrooms today. We give students "Closed Boxes", proprietary kits with locked software and hidden algorithms. We celebrate when they make a plastic robot move, but we ignore a hard truth: They didn't build it. They just configured it. If we want to educate the leaders of the AI and Robotics revolution, we must stop giving them "Black Boxes." Why the "White Box" (Open-Source) model is the only way forward: 1️⃣ Transparency is the best Teacher: In a "White Box" platform like myAGV, nothing is hidden. Want to see how the LiDAR filters noise? Open the code. Want to see how the motor controller handles PID? It’s all there. 2️⃣ Failure is a Feature: Closed systems are "sanitized" to prevent errors. But real engineering is about fixing what breaks. On an open ROS 2 platform, students encounter real bugs, real latency, and real hardware constraints. That’s where the actual learning happens. 3️⃣ Market-Ready Sovereignty: A student who masters a closed brand is dependent on that brand. A student who masters Open-Source (Linux, Python, ROS) is independent. They own their skills. They are ready for the workforce on Day 1. The "Closed Box" is a toy. The "Open Platform" is a career. It’s time to stop protecting students from the complexity of the real world and start empowering them to master it. Unlock the hood. Open the source. Choose myAGV.
