A quick heads-up for anyone managing SharePoint environments 👇 Microsoft is retiring Featured Links on the SharePoint start page, and the timeline has now shifted forward. This retirement (driven by low adoption from Microsoft’s perspective) will roll out from early March through to late June. But here’s the important bit… Just because it’s low adoption globally doesn’t mean your organisation isn’t using it. If you’re a SharePoint admin or site owner relying on Featured Links, you could see disruption when the feature is removed. No warning banners. No dramatic shutdown. It simply retires, and your start page experience changes. 🎥 Watch the full webinar recording to make sure your SharePoint environment is prepared: https://hubs.la/Q047Df7L0 #SharePoint #Microsoft365 #VivaConnections #ITAdmin #DigitalWorkplace #M365 #TechUpdates #ChangeManagement

SharePoint gets blamed for a lot of problems that actually stem from misunderstanding the platform. After 20+ years of SharePoint consulting, here is one lesson that keeps proving itself: Most SharePoint problems are not caused by missing features. They are usually caused by weak structure, unclear ownership, delayed governance, and decisions that made sense in the short term but created friction later. The platform has changed a lot. SharePoint Online replaced on-prem for many organizations. Modern experiences replaced many classic ones. Automation, Microsoft 365, and Copilot changed expectations. But the same failure patterns still show up. Search issues often turn out to be structure issues. Permission issues often trace back to weak ownership and poor standards. Adoption issues are often trust issues long before they are training issues. That is one of the biggest things experience teaches you: look past the symptom and find the real cause. New features matter. Better tooling matters too. Still, the organizations that get the most long-term value from SharePoint are usually the ones that make better decisions around governance, information architecture, permissions, ownership, and stewardship. That is what lasts. I wrote more about that here: https://lnkd.in/epJubZ3z #SharePoint #Microsoft365 #SharePointConsulting #SharePointGovernance #InformationArchitecture #Copilot

SharePoint Governance & Storage without the headache SharePoint works best when it’s controlled not chaotic. Without governance, organisations face: ❌ Over‑permissioned users ❌ Forgotten external sharing links ❌ No clear ownership ❌ Rising storage costs Governance = knowing who has access to what Storage control = knowing what’s using space (and why) Tools like DeliverPoint give clear visibility into permissions and sharing, helping organisations stay secure, compliant, and in control — without slowing users down. Call to action: If SharePoint permissions or storage feel out of control, let’s chat. Message me to see how teams are simplifying governance. #SharePoint #Microsoft365 #Governance #DataSecurity #DeliverPoint #LightningTools

MCP365 Explorer, Part 2: Work IQ SharePoint. The big picture is becoming clear: Agents 365 Tools is now Work IQ Tools : Microsoft's umbrella for all MCP capabilities in the M365 ecosystem. The servers are being consolidated and rebranded (Work IQ SharePoint, Work IQ Calendar, Work IQ Mail, etc.), and the tooling is maturing fast. The SharePoint server is the most complete one at this point : 35 tools (!) covering sites, lists, columns, items, document libraries, files, folders, sharing, and sensitivity labels. For those of us who have been working with SharePoint for years, this is our great SharePoint now accessible through a standardized protocol. The Explorer's showcase demonstrates three tools chained together: get the current site's document library, create a folder, and upload a file using the PnP React Controls FilePicker — all through MCP calls directly from SPFx. No backend. Blog: https://lnkd.in/es4WK5mZ Code: https://lnkd.in/eaC9xveD #MCP #Microsoft365 #SPFx #SharePoint #WorkIQ #ModelContextProtocol

Microsoft is officially ending support for several key SharePoint-related technologies on July 14, 2026, including: 🌐 SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 Extended support ends on this date; there will be no further security updates, bug fixes, or Microsoft support. Organizations remaining on-premises will need to plan an upgrade to SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, or consider migrating to SharePoint Online. 🌐 SharePoint 2013 Workflows These workflows will no longer be supported after this date. Organizations should plan to rebuild workflows using Power Automate, as there is no direct migration path. 🌐 InfoPath Forms Services (SharePoint Online) InfoPath Forms Services will be fully retired and removed from SharePoint Online tenants. After this date, InfoPath forms will no longer function. Existing forms must be rebuilt using Power Apps (either customized SharePoint forms or canvas apps). Now is the time to start planning. Not sure where to begin? Reach out to us - we have helped many clients prepare and execute their upgrade strategies. #Microsoft365 #SharePoint #EndOfSupport #ITStrategy #DigitalTransformation

SharePoint Search is one of the most underutilized capabilities in the Microsoft 365 stack. Most organizations treat it as an afterthought — content gets created, metadata never gets filled in, and then people complain that "SharePoint search doesn't work." SharePoint search works fine. The content architecture is usually the problem. After several intranet implementations, here's what consistently makes search useful: Metadata is everything. Managed metadata columns — department, document type, project, year — give search the signals it needs to surface relevant content. Free-text search alone is not enough across a large tenant. Promoted results and acronyms are underused. If your organization has 10 documents people search for constantly, promote them. It takes 10 minutes and makes search feel intelligent. Content types enforce metadata consistency at upload time, which is the only moment you can realistically capture it. A well-architected SharePoint environment isn't one where people find content by browsing. It's one where search surfaces the right thing on the first try. #SharePoint #Microsoft365 #KnowledgeManagement #InformationArchitecture #Intranet
