Speed is becoming a strategic advantage. Delay is the real risk. As defence environments become more contested, the ability to move from decision to deployed capability — quickly — is no longer an efficiency question. It is a determinant of military advantage in its own right. In our latest article, KordaMentha Defence and National Security Partners, Mike Kalms and Joshua Rodgers and Manager, Luke Skelton examine what Australia can learn from the Pentagon’s acquisition reset, where speed to capability has become the organising principle of reform and what this means for the design and success of Australia’s Defence Delivery Agency. General Sir Richard Barrons’ latest piece in The Sun is a timely reminder that the UK can no longer afford to treat defence and national resilience as tomorrow’s problem. From Russia’s sustained missile and drone attacks on Ukraine to growing concern over critical national infrastructure, the warning is clear: the threats are real, the world is becoming more dangerous, and Britain must act now to strengthen its defences. In the article, Richard sets out why this cannot be left to government alone. Rebuilding resilience, modernising the Armed Forces, and preparing the nation for a more contested era will require a genuine whole-of-society effort. This is not about alarmism. It is about recognising the reality of the strategic environment and making hard choices while there is still time to do so. A recent report highlights a significant military development in Iran. According to verified sources, a strike targeted an ammunition depot near Isfahan. The impact was reportedly so intense that it was visible through satellite imagery from space. Initial analysis suggests: • The target was a secured weapons storage facility • The site was located between two air bases • Advanced “bunker-buster” munitions may have been used, designed to penetrate underground before detonation This incident reflects the increasing role of precision targeting and surveillance in modern conflict scenarios. Beyond the immediate event, it raises broader questions about escalation, strategic intent, and the evolving nature of global security. Staying informed is essential as these developments continue to shape international dynamics. #WorldNews #Geopolitics #GlobalSecurity #Defense #StrategicInsights #CurrentAffairs

H!ZB0LLAH has announced that 114 Israeli tanks have been destroyed during the current war, marking one of the most significant claims regarding armored losses in the conflict. The statement highlights a major focus on anti-armor warfare, directly targeting Israel’s core ground strength—its Merkava tank units. The scale of the claim indicates a shift in battlefield dynamics. Modern anti-tank systems, guided missiles, and coordinated ambush tactics have increasingly challenged heavy armor dominance. If sustained, such losses would impact operational mobility, ground offensives, and battlefield control. The broader implication is strategic. Tanks are not just equipment—they represent frontline power projection. High losses at this scale suggest that ground operations are becoming more contested and costly, forcing adjustments in tactics, deployment patterns, and risk calculations. This also reflects the evolving nature of warfare in the region, where non-state actors are demonstrating the ability to challenge advanced military systems through asymmetric methods. The battlefield is no longer defined by technology alone, but by adaptability and targeting precision. #IranWar #Hezbollah #Israel #MiddleEast #Geopolitics #GlobalTensions #MilitaryStrategy #GroundWar #Defense #Conflict #WarAnalysis #USA #Russia #China #WorldPolitics

Deterrence depends on readiness - and readiness depends on the defense industrial base. A new Joint Force Quarterly article by Bryce Loidolt shows that U.S. munitions surge capacity during the war in Ukraine was driven more by prewar investment than crisis response. Systems with sustained procurement and active production lines surged, while those with “cold” lines struggled. For the Department of War, the findings highlight the need to build and sustain munitions surge capacity before a crisis, not improvise during one. #INSS #DefenseIndustrialBase #Readiness #Deterrence #NationalSecurity #NDU #JPME #DefensePolicy

Japan's strategic shift involves a significant doubling of defense spending to 2% of GDP, a move that redefines its post-war pacifist stance. This enhanced budget supports the acquisition of advanced weaponry, including Tomahawk cruise missiles and hypersonic capabilities, aimed at projecting power across the Pacific and integrating with US military networks. While designed to deter potential adversaries and support critical defense scenarios like Taiwan's security, this buildup places communities on strategically vital islands, like Okinawa, in a precarious position. Residents face the reality of becoming primary targets, a concern amplified by historical trauma and the logistical challenges of evacuation. This creates a complex duality: enhanced national security aspirations alongside profound local anxieties. #JapanDefense #Geopolitics #NationalSecurity #PacificStrategy #InternationalRelations

Strengthening the information front in modern warfare. The Ministry of Defence is set to establish a dedicated Information Warfare (IW) Unit focused on strategic communication—aimed at shaping perceptions, countering disinformation, and managing narratives in today’s complex, gray-zone battlespace. Being created under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), the unit is in advanced stages of sanction and will bring together representatives from all three armed services, along with experts from diplomatic, media, and bureaucratic domains. This initiative marks a significant step towards integrating information operations into core military strategy—enhancing preparedness not just on the battlefield, but in the cognitive domain as well. Controlling the narrative. Countering misinformation. Securing the information space. #IndianArmedForces #InformationWarfare #StrategicCommunication #ModernWarfare #Defence #CyberDomain #FutureReadyDubai

Freedom Shield 26 strengthens ROK-US combined defense posture The Republic of Korea and the United States concluded Freedom Shield 26 on March 19 at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. The annual combined exercise commenced on March 9 and aimed to reaffirm a strong combined defense posture and enhance the alliance's ability to conduct operations across all domains. The exercise incorporated lessons learned from recent conflicts into training scenarios to enhance realism, with a focus on maintaining a high level of combined readiness. It also supported ongoing preparations for the conditions-based transition of wartime operational control in accordance with alliance agreements. Under the Combined Forces Command, commanders and staffs integrated capabilities across multiple domains and developed procedures to synchronize joint and combined operations, strengthening the alliance's ability to respond rapidly and effectively to complex security threats. Freedom Shield 26 included Warrior Shield, a large-scale field training exercise conducted across the Korean Peninsula. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalDisputes #SouthKorea https://lnkd.in/gAqEucpn
