We are pleased to announce Heli-One (Norway) and VINCORION have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly support the market introduction, certification, integration, and lifecycle support of VINCORION’s next-generation Electrical Rescue Hoist ERH premierV system across multiple helicopter types. VINCORION has been designing and constructing safe and reliable hoist systems for civil and military helicopter operations for more than 40 years. Its new ERH premierV system is designed to lift 303kgs at a speed of 2 meters a second, at distances of 330 feet. It also features a wireless remote-control capability, providing flexibility of use and making it ideal for complex rescue missions and safety critical operations in challenging onshore and offshore environments. Working together, Heli-One and VINCORION aim to reduce technical and operational barriers for operators introducing the ERH premierV system into their fleets. ‘This collaboration reflects Heli-One’s role as an integrator and lifecycle support provider for mission critical helicopter systems,’ said Jens Morten Mørland, Sales Director at Heli-One. ‘Together with VINCORION, we see strong market potential in offering operators a complete package — from certification and installation to long-term MRO solutions — enabling efficient introduction and sustained operation of the hoist system across international markets.' Attention to all personnel working on offshore platforms, including Safety Officers, all crew members are responsible for ensuring a safe helicopter landing. Conducting joint inspections with the Helideck Officer and cooperating with the team on site can help reduce accidents. Helicopter landing safety is not only the responsibility of the Helideck Officer and Helideck Assistant , we all must work together and support the team to prevent incidents. Even a small accident on a platform can lead to a major disaster, as the atmosphere may contain flammable gases, especially on drilling rigs. #Offshoresafety #HelideckSafety
ALERT TO ALL OFFSHORE HELICOPTER PILOTS - OBSTACLE STRIKES Issued by Thought Process Aviation Solutions (TPAS) and the International Helideck Organisation (IHO) We have been informed of another offshore incident where an AW139 made contact with obstacles during an approach to an offshore platform. This alert will highlight the main threat that has contributed to this adverse event. There are 2 main obstacle sectors on an offshore helideck, namely: 1. 210-degree Obstacle Free Sector (OFS): "Green Sector" 2. 150-degree Limited Obstacle Sector (LOS): "Red Sector" Note: Green and Red Sectors have only been selected to emphasise the significance of these 2 areas and their role in planning a safe approach. The diagram below highlights an area that extends far past the boundaries of the LOS, however this area should be avoided (whenever possible) at all times when planning an approach to an offshore platform. It is sometimes safer to plan an approach that will solely remain within the OFS, and accept a crosswind component that are within the helicopter's limitation. This will ensure an approach with the least amount of exposure to obstacles around the helideck. Offshore Safety rule #1: Plan an offshore final approach heading that will remain solely within the GREEN 210-degree Obstacles Free Sector! Offshore Safety rule #2: Avoid an approach heading that will place the helicopter within the RED AVOID AREA that extends beyond the LOS! We encourage offshore pilots to complete the safety awareness course below, and to download the free "Safe Approach Calculator" that was developed for free by Thought Process Aviation Solutions (TPAS).
