We’ve spent this week holding interviews for our apprentice positions, meeting a number of students from Ron Dearing UTC. The calibre of candidates has been extremely impressive — showing maturity beyond their years, well-prepared, professional, and ready to step into the industry from day one. It’s clear there is a strong pipeline of young talent coming through. Experiences like this reinforce the importance of apprenticeship programmes. They provide a direct route into industry and give young people the opportunity to build meaningful careers in engineering and construction. We would encourage other employers to consider committing to apprenticeship schemes this year. There is no shortage of motivated, capable individuals — but there are still too few opportunities available to them.
