The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has secured MYR 87.4 billion ($22.35 billion) in approved digital investments in 2025, driven largely by the growth in artificial intelligence (AI), big data, data centers and cloud services. MDEC said in a statement on Tuesday that this has significantly contributed to the RM152.9 billion* of approved investments in the information and communication sub-sector, as recently reported by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA). #AI #BigData #DataCenters #cloud https://lnkd.in/gi4rgpc5

Malaysia’s digital economy is quietly compounding. RM87.4B in digital investments secured in 2025, with AI leading the charge, signals more than just growth, it signals direction. What stands out isn’t just the size of the number, but where it’s going: 1️⃣AI-led job creation 2️⃣Increasing demand for high-value digital talent 3️⃣Strong foreign investor confidence The real question now isn’t whether AI will reshape the region, it’s whether we can build enough talent and infrastructure fast enough to keep up. Malaysia has momentum. Execution is everything from here.

Shared my views with Economic Times Wealth on how 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗧 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿. While artificial intelligence is disrupting traditional outsourcing models, the sector is not collapsing—it is transitioning. Over the long term, IT growth is likely to become more productivity-driven as enterprises accelerate investments in cloud, data infrastructure, analytics, and legacy modernisation in preparation for AI adoption. For investors, this phase requires patience and selectivity, as companies capable of adapting their service models and strengthening consulting capabilities are likely to capture the next phase of growth. Telcos earn 8% returns. AI platforms earn 27%. WEF published the math, and the three exits - this March. Today, Circles chose one. That 19-point gap is documented in the World Economic Forum's March 2026 white paper with Accenture: "The Strategic Role of Telecom Providers Across the AI Value Chain." Global communications revenue is forecast to grow just 2.3% through 2026. EBITDA is flat at 33%. Meanwhile, digital platforms run at 27% post-tax ROIC. Telcos built the infrastructure that powers those platforms, and captured almost none of the value. The WEF report identifies three pathways out. The Modern Telco monetises AI-enhanced connectivity through network slicing, quality-on-demand APIs and edge compute. The AI Techco builds GPU-as-a-Service and managed AI models on top of its network infrastructure - a $108 billion market by 2029 per Gartner. The National Sovereign Champion co-builds government AI stacks in markets like UAE, India, Indonesia and Thailand, where 81% of enterprises are already seeking telcos as sovereign AI partners. Operators aren't waiting for a final strategy document. Today, Circles signed a strategic collaboration with Huawei to advance AI-native digital telecom solutions globally - a Singapore-based operator picking its pathway in public. That follows Deutsche Telekom's quality-on-demand APIs for 5G campus networks, Telefónica Global Solutions launching its Dynamic Network NaaS platform (a market Analysys Mason forecasts at 42% CAGR through 2029), and SK Telecom, Singtel and Verizon all launching GPUaaS offerings in the past 60 days. The WEF report lands one sharp line: "The central question is no longer how AI can make telcos more efficient, but the roles telcos choose to play in the AI value chain and how quickly they can execute." Operators choosing the wrong pathway or no pathway, are not standing still. They are compounding the ROIC gap every quarter. Follow HYPHN for more. Servernah Cloud | Kenya's first sovereign AI infrastructure, powered by ATLANCIS Technologies, EverseTech, and iXAfrica Data Centres is live and it's a game-changer for East Africa's digital sovereignty. Hosted at iXAfrica Data Centres's massive 22.5 MW hyperscale data center on Mombasa Road, it combines Servernah's resilient, Africa-built cloud with EverseTech's AI-as-a-Service (think easy model deployment, inference, and an AI marketplace) and iXAfrica's AI-ready racks. Big picture thinking ... we keep data, jobs, talent, and revenue in Africa – no more shipping workloads offshore and now enterprises and government can now run mission-critical AI right here, boosting security, scalability, and local innovation. In my world of mobile VAS, content, adtech, and African ecosystems this means faster, compliant API-driven AI for things like personalized ad targeting, mobile money fraud detection, or even UX-optimized recharge apps. Sovereign cloud = lower latency, better data governance, and real economic multipliers for innovators like us. Big props to the teams

The next frontier of generative systems may not only be intelligence, but also sovereignty. In addition to scale and performance, factors such as jurisdiction, governance, and accountability have made their way into enterprise cloud strategies. Parallelly, enterprises are building increasingly sophisticated digital ecosystems that continuously learn, adapt, and boost decision-making. Interestingly, enterprises are, in many ways, creating a digital extension (AI twin) of themselves by being persistent, data-centric, and always operating in the background. This raises simple questions such as: -Where does the enterprise digital extension reside? -Under what framework does it evolve? Innovation will continue. Intelligence will advance. However, in the long run, capability alone will not make an impact. The guiding principles will also be a crucial factor. Technology scales. Sovereignty strengthens trust. #TCSSovereignSecureCloud #SovereignCloud

The biggest tech trend right now isn’t AI. It’s what happens when everything starts connecting around it. AI, data, cloud, and connectivity are no longer separate bets; they are becoming one system. That’s where things get interesting. The challenge isn’t just adopting any single technology anymore; it’s about making them work together in a way that creates real value. The companies that will succeed won’t be the ones chasing trends; they’ll be the ones connecting them. (Inspired by recent insights from McKinsey on tech trends) https://lnkd.in/eMhUnTQr
