5ft2 Studio Architects is excited to present our upcoming installation, 76dB+, at the 15th annual Seattle Design Festival , hosted by AIA Seattle . In partnership with MW Builds , we are proud to bring this vision to life and engage with the community we serve. 76dB+ is an interactive sound installation that uses the phenomenon of audio feedback—a closed loop where a microphone captures and amplifies its own output—to explore the dangers of echo chambers, confirmation bias, and identity-driven conflict in contemporary society. Drawing parallels between acoustic distortion and social discourse, the installation invites participants to speak into one of seven microphones, where their voice is looped, distorted, and immediately played back, creating an unsettling version of selfamplification. These units surround a central chamber where all seven warped voices play simultaneously, forming a cacophony that mirrors a world saturated with unchecked opinion and self-reinforcing narratives. By turning each voice inward and stripping away the possibility of dialogue, 76dB+ becomes a sonic metaphor for a polarized culture where everyone speaks, no one listens, and noise replaces understanding. Through this immersive experience, the work challenges audiences to confront their own biases and consider the personal, social, and technological systems that amplify them—raising the critical question: when we only hear ourselves, are we truly saying anything at all? #seattledesignfestival #architecture #installation #aiaseattle #design #feedback

The first passion never dies. Architecture is a dynamic composition of space and volume, charged with movement, rhythm, and dynamics — manifested, perceived, and experienced through the essential mediums of light and sound. With VOLUMETRICA, our latest project at Onda Studio, I explored how light and sound can define, dissolve, and transform space itself, pushing our research further into the realm of immersive art. A form of ephemeral architecture where volumes, reflection, rhythm, and sound continuously reshape the environment. Building on Laser Volume, this new work deepens the dialogue between light, space, and perception, inviting audiences to move through a space that evolves with every perspective. /// Rooted in mathematical structures and optical principles, VOLUMETRICA is an immersive laser and sound installation that generates volumes made of light — spaces emerging from the interplay of points, lines, trajectories, and intersecting planes. Echoing Kandinsky’s study of point, line, and plane — and his exploration of rhythm and abstraction — our work expands these ideas into three-dimensional space, inviting the audience to move through an environment that evolves and shifts with each change in perspective. At the core of the project lies a carefully composed sequence of dots, dashes, and pauses — animated across a line-thin canvas. Encoded through the physics of reflection and laser motion, this sequence becomes a spatial language made of light, time, and rhythm, fully integrated with a multichannel audio composition that amplifies the immersive power of the work. Every expressive element is part of a synchronised system, where rhythm defines geometry and volume, and perspective reshapes spatial experience. Pulse – Houghton Festival 2025 A new permanent installation by EBBA, exploring the resonance of the forest through light, sound, and vibration. Developed with Benni Allan (EBBA) and Kevin Pollard, Pulse translates environmental and spatial audio data into a live composition of light and vibration within the trees. As Lighting Designer and Technical Systems Developer, Oliver Ellmers designed a TouchDesigner control system to integrate spatial audio, lighting, and haptic feedback in real time. The system processes multichannel data from the L-Acoustics L-ISA array and maps it to generative lighting across a suspended LED canopy and haptic transducers embedded in the structure. The result is a responsive environment where light, sound, and physical resonance operate as a single system, evolving in dialogue with the woodland over time. Every great acoustic design starts with understanding how sound behaves — how it reflects, absorbs, and diffuses within a space. This basic drawing explains the fundamentals of room acoustics, showing how surface materials and geometry affect sound quality. Whether it’s an auditorium, studio, or workspace — the goal is always the same: ➡️ Reduce noise ➡️ Enhance clarity ➡️ Create comfort Because good acoustics don’t just happen — they’re engineered. 🛠️🎶 #Acoustics #SoundEngineering #NoiseControl #BuildingAcoustics #AcousticDesign #SoundAbsorption #SoundReflection #Diffusion #ArchitecturalDesign #EngineeringLife #SustainableDesign #HVACNoise #VibrationControl #AcousticConsultant #LearnAcoustics #STC #NRC #ReverberationTime

Wellness AV: Designing for the Nervous System The THX Deep Note remains one of cinema's most powerful examples of environmental conditioning. That single, ascending harmonic transformed an entire theater, commanding silence and preparing hundreds of minds for collective focus. Incredible engineering, but also neurological architecture! Modern buildings demand this same intentionality. As our relationship with interior spaces deepens from occasional occupancy to prolonged habitation, environments leave measurable biochemical imprints on their inhabitants. This has a lasting effect on who we are. Was any thought put into how a space will wire the people inside it? Audiovisual systems represent our most direct pathway to the nervous system. Consider the possibilities: soundscapes engineered to lower cortisol production rather than elevate it, lighting systems that support rather than disrupt circadian regulation, and acoustic environments calibrated for cognitive clarity and emotional equilibrium. This approach transcends wellness as amenity so that we can position human neurology as the fundamental design parameter. The most memorable spaces aren't just visually striking alone, they're neurologically coherent. They signal safety, invite attention, and create the conditions for both productivity and restoration. The built environment shapes consciousness more than we acknowledge. Every space carries an implicit message to the nervous system, and audiovisual design determines whether that message promotes stress or serenity, distraction or deep work. For architects, engineers, and developers ready to move beyond spaces that merely function to environments that truly serve human flourishing and are engineered with the intention of a successful pitch, or switching between focus and creative modes, let's explore how AV can become a tool for neurological design. #WellnessAV #NeuroDesign #ArchitecturalWellness #SmartBuildings #HumanCentricDesign

COEX “Wave”: When Illusion Meets Architecture Hook: Can a digital billboard make you stop mid-step? Challenge: In the heart of Seoul’s Gangnam district, COEX K-POP Square wanted to transform a busy commercial screen into an urban art icon that would capture global attention without traditional advertising. Implementation: Korean design studio d’strict created the installation called “Wave.” Built on a 90 m × 20 m curved LED facade, the content uses anamorphic 3D illusion—a hyper-real ocean wave crashing inside the screen. The effect relies on perspective correction and motion depth so the “water” appears to fill the physical space. Runs as a looped digital artwork 24/7, seamlessly integrated into city rhythm. Results: Became one of the most-viewed digital artworks online, amassing hundreds of millions of impressions. Re-shared globally across platforms like Instagram and YouTube, redefining what out-of-home media can be. Inspired brands worldwide to explore 3D anamorphic billboards as a storytelling tool. Key Takeaway: COEX’s “Wave” shows that when art meets LED technology, a single screen can become a global phenomenon—turning everyday architecture into digital sculpture. It’s Showtime POV: We bring the same fusion of illusion + technology to brand spaces—crafting video wall content that moves people before they even realize why. #ExperientialAdvertising #VideoWalls #3DLED #AnamorphicDesign #COEXWave #ItsShowtime

Good acoustic design is more than reducing noise; it is about shaping how people experience sound. From classrooms and offices to research laboratories and residential developments, every environment has unique requirements. In schools, it ensures clear speech and concentration; in labs, it protects sensitive equipment from low-frequency disturbances; in offices, it promotes productivity through careful sound management. At ISVR Consulting, we combine detailed measurements, predictive modelling, and listening tests to create spaces that are comfortable, compliant, and functional. By considering both the technical and human aspects of sound, we help designers and developers deliver environments that perform as intended.
