Matt Martin shared thisToday is our last day as the Clockwise team. Early on Gary, Mike, and I aligned on how we wanted to run Clockwise. What mattered most to us was putting the team first in everything we did. And while Clockwise — the product and the company — evolved many times over its history, that belief never did. I can't express enough gratitude to the Clockwise team, past and present. From the first hires who are here on our last day — Danyaal and Andy — to the early crew now off doing amazing things — Alexandra, Charles, Amy, and Michael — to the outstanding leaders I had the opportunity to learn from — Tatiana, Francis, Rishi, Kevin, Vicky, Alexis, Kacy, and Brittany — and to the iincredible group we’re closing this chapter with — Allie, Andy, Claire, Danyaal, Dillon, Erin, Johnathan, Junjun, Kacy, Maverick, Nikita, Raphael, Samantha, Scott, Tatiana, and Timothy. That old Steve Jobs line is true: A-players attract other A-players. What a world where I’ve been paid to work alongside them. Clockwise was an incredible journey. In many ways, I grew up here: crafting a product from nothing to hundreds of thousands of users, raising tens of millions, hiring hundreds, becoming a dad, living through a pandemic, moving across the country... I'm a much different person than I was when I started this, and hopefully a better one. I owe everything to the people who worked tirelessly to build this thing. All the progress, the growth, the learning — none of it would have been possible without this group of amazing, talented, weird, funny, driven, empathetic humans. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Matt Martin shared thisI’m sure you’ve heard investor horror stories. Board members who undermine the executive, investors that make ultimatums, supposed partners who are nowhere to be found. From nearly a decade leading Clockwise, I have precisely *zero* of those stories. I have had the privilege of working closely with three of the best investors and board members out there: Steve Loughlin, John Lilly, and Ajay Agarwal. They have been there every step of the way: when the first dollar of revenue hit our accounts, through years of a pandemic, finding emergency loans after a bank-run, interviewing dozens of execs, plotting pivots when the strategy failed, celebrating multi-million dollar raises... they were with us through all of it. I consider each of these guys a partner, mentor, and friend. When you’re raising capital, it’s far too easy to miss a fundamental truth as you’re chasing dollar amounts and term sheets: investors are forever. This is someone who will be with you until you go under, get acquired, or ring the bell. Choose wisely. If anyone reading this ever has the opportunity to work with any of these three, don’t hesitate. And to Steve, John, and Ajay: thank you for making time for what matters with me.

Matt Martin shared thisClockwise’s next chapter: the team is joining Salesforce! From the earliest days of Clockwise, it has been our mission to help the world make time for what matters. We've built a business to be proud of, serving some incredible customers like Uber, Netflix, and Atlassian. And the impact has been far reaching: over 8 million hours of Focus Time created and 23 million meetings moved to better times. When Gary Lerhaupt, Mike Grinolds, and I started this thing, we only dared to dream we’d be able to deliver impact of that magnitude. We’ve also been building AI into the heart of scheduling long before it became the defining technology of our time. (Shout-out to Charles for buying the whole team copies of "Designing Agentive Technology" before “Agent” was a buzz-word.) Along the way, we've developed deep expertise in scheduling and calendars. Hard-won knowledge from nearly a decade of tackling one of the most underestimated problems in the modern workplace: shared time. It's a problem we care deeply about, and one that isn't going away. That's why we're excited about this next chapter: our team is joining Salesforce. We believe this move will allow us to have even greater impact. We will be bringing our deep expertise building reliable, agentic software to the Agentic Enterprise. Now for the sad part: as part of this transition, the Clockwise services will be going away. Our product will no longer be available starting on March 27, 2026. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built at Clockwise. Creating a market is incredibly difficult, and it was validating to see competitors pop up in our wake. AI changes what's possible — and what markets can sustain stand-alone products. Someday I'll write a tome on the productivity software market, but today is not that day! To our customers, we want to thank you. You have inspired us to keep building and we deeply appreciate the trust you've placed with us. We don't take lightly what you gave us — your time, your trust, and your belief in what we were building. To the Clockwise team — current employees, past employees, advisors, investors, friends — you made it happen. Working with all of you has been the most rewarding experience of my professional life. What a great privilege it is to be paid to build things with people you admire. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And to our future colleagues at Salesforce, we can’t wait to help you build the future. Onward! Matt

Matt Martin shared thisBig thanks to Whispered and Andy Mowat for a great chat about executive hiring and letting me share a few outside-of-the-box opinions on searching for the best talent. Some nuggets: - The first call you have with a candidate should be all about selling *them* - Hire for a 2 year horizon, not the long term - Texting > emailing when it comes to execs Link in comments to the full episode if you want to learn why.

Matt Martin reposted thisMatt Martin reposted thisIt has been heartbreaking and profoundly disorienting to see the state that I love subjected to an armed occupation by our own federal government. And to watch as my fellow Minnesotans have been killed by a domestic force whose values are completely foreign to our own. Two images have stood out in my mind that capture this moment – the first shows what our community has endured, and the second shows how we’ve responded. On the day of that peaceful protest, the windchill was twenty below. What is happening here is not about fraud or immigration and doesn’t even begin to resemble law enforcement. Fundamentally, this is an attack on one of Minnesota’s greatest qualities: decency. This administration wants our country to believe that we have to choose between being good and being great. It tries to convince us that goodness is for suckers and losers, and so a place that is doing its best to live up to a higher standard is something to be torn down and made into a cautionary tale. Their goal was to make good look weak, but instead our strength is on display for the whole world to see. I’ve never been more proud of my home state. Over the past month, countless Minnesotans have stepped up in ways large and small. They’ve used their voices, whistles, and car horns. They’ve been selfless and brave, caring and kind, organized and disciplined. They’ve been neighbors, helpers, leaders, and heroes. And in doing so, they’ve inspired a nation. To be clear, the crisis here is ongoing. If you’re looking for ways to help Minnesotans who are being hit the hardest, The Constellation Fund has launched a relief effort to support nonprofit organizations embedded in impacted neighborhoods that provide the following: • Emergency rent and utility assistance to keep families in their homes • Food and basic supplies delivered directly to families' doors • Direct aid for workers and businesses losing income • Emergency grants for students facing urgent needs • Childcare for parents who can't miss work The fund has already exceeded $800,000 with the goal of raising $1,000,000 and one hundred percent of contributions go directly to the nonprofit partners – no overhead, and no delay. I’ve made my donation, and I hope you’ll consider joining me: https://lnkd.in/gamiRxy5 Minnesotans are no strangers to harsh winters, and this has been among the coldest, darkest times in our country’s history. The survival skills we’ve developed over generations are to work together, look out for one another, and take care of each other during times of need. There’s no question that’s goodness. But if you ask me, it’s greatness, too.

Matt Martin reacted on thisMatt Martin reacted on thisToday, we're launching the new Invoice Butler. A new brand. A new website. And a milestone we're incredibly proud of: Over $1 billion in accounts receivable managed. When we started Invoice Butler, we had a simple belief: getting paid shouldn't be a full-time job. Yet for most finance teams, it is. Hours spent chasing unpaid invoices. Endless follow-up emails. Managing the billing inbox with replies and requests. Supplier portals. Tracking down the right billing contact. Balancing persistence with customer relationships....all while waiting for cash to arrive. We built Invoice Butler to change that. Over the past year, we've quietly rebuilt our brand, reimagined our product experience, and continued working side by side with our customers to make accounts receivable less manual and more effective. Our philosophy is simple: use AI where it creates leverage, and keep humans in the loop where relationships matter most. To every customer who has trusted us along the way: thank you. Reaching over $1 billion in accounts receivable managed is a milestone we never could have achieved without you. And thank you to our team, investors, advisors, and partners for believing in our vision from the beginning. We're just getting started.

Matt Martin reacted on thisMatt Martin reacted on thisWe hear a similar story from customers all the time: one team, three people, three different systems for where footage lives. One person's system is their laptop. Another's is a shared drive nobody checks. Or maybe it's hundreds of tiny thumbnails on someone's phone. The good stuff, footage that could become five more posts, just sits there, unused. That's the exact problem we built Media Hub to solve. It's not another tool to manage. It's one searchable library inside Slate where raw footage, source files, and finished content all live together — no exporting, no re-uploading, no "wait, who has that file." Wrap a project and it saves back to the Hub automatically. Nobody has to remember. Teams using Slate can stop losing great content to a messy process, keep everything on-brand, and protect their team's sanity. If your asset situation sounds familiar, take a look: https://lnkd.in/g_P7xC2v

Matt Martin reacted on thisI'm delighted to share that I'm joining the board of NextLadder Ventures. My whole career I've spent time working on how to make technology useful & usable for everyone -- companies like Mozilla, Figma, Instagram and others -- and of course Code for America. NextLadder is pushing on that angle to help Americans navigate some of life's toughest moments. They’re pioneering Navigation Technology – tech-enabled tools created to help people navigate challenges like managing debt, accessing public benefits, or finding workforce support. Those systems were never built for the people using them, and I think thoughtful AI-powered tools can finally change that. I'm really excited to get a chance to work with Ryan Rippel and the whole team on this -- it's crucial work for today's America.Matt Martin reacted on thisWe're adding two new voices to our Board of Directors: John Lilly and Swati M. Both have spent their careers backing the people and technology that expand what's possible. John is the former CEO of Mozilla and an early investor and operator behind Figma, Duolingo, Dropbox, and Instagram. Swati is co-founder of Incite.org, where she's helped launch more than 100 ventures at the intersection of technology, economic opportunity, and climate. Their guidance and perspectives will be critical to NextLadder's work to catalyze a market for Navigation Technology — people-centered tools that empower families to overcome barriers to economic mobility and reclaim their path to economic security, dignity, and empowerment.

I’ve been incredibly impressed by the team, the product, and the market opportunity ahead. Even better, I’m joining to do what I love most: building an enduring growth engine from the ground up. We’re growing the team quickly, and I’m looking to hire tenacious, data-obsessed marketers who are excited to break new ground, experiment with rigor, and amplify their impact with AI. If that sounds like you, send me a DM! Know someone who might be interested? Please share this post. I’ll include links to our open roles in the comments.

Matt Martin reacted on thisMatt Martin reacted on thisI’m excited to share that I’ve joined Workday as VP of Engineering, leading the Developer Platform team. The mission is straightforward: open up the Workday Platform so developers can create the future of work, on a foundation that is open, trusted, and lawful. Over the past few weeks, as I've immersed myself in Workday's business and technology, one thing has become abundantly clear. The world's largest enterprises trust Workday with their most sensitive people and financial data. They also rely on Workday to help ensure that critical business processes comply with the laws and regulations of every country in which they operate. As we enter the era of AI agents, opening the platform isn't just about exposing APIs, it's about building the boundaries of governance, security, and compliance alongside the agentic capabilities. To me, that's what makes this challenge so compelling. The next generation of enterprise platforms won't just be AI-native, they'll need to be lawful by design. I'm incredibly excited to work alongside an exceptional team and with leadership Jay Wieczorkowski, Gabe Monroy, and Gerrit Kazmaier to build a developer platform that enables customers and partners to innovate with confidence. Looking forward to what's ahead.

Matt Martin reacted on thisMatt Martin reacted on thisI joined Abridge in 2024 to help scale the business through what I hoped would be an exceptional growth phase. A bit over two years later, I can safely say that I got what I wished for... and more on top of that! It's been a crazy ride as we've grown faster than anyone imagined a healthcare technology company could grow. I'm so proud of everything we built to make it easier for clinicians to deliver care to millions of Americans. Alas, like all good things, my time at Abridge has come to an end. I'll be rooting the whole team on from the sidelines as I step into a new opportunity. I'll share more on that soon. For now, here's me feeling grateful and a little bit wistful as I stepped out of the Abridge office for the last time as an employee. ❤️

Matt Martin reacted on thisMatt Martin reacted on this“Lucy!”. That’s the internal code name we gave our new superstar AI support agent, which went live to 100% of customers in chat earlier this quarter and went live this week on Xero Central, where millions of our customers go to find answers. With the extension to Xero Central - which is over 1.7m monthly user sessions - AI has now fundamentally changed the amount of support and speed of support we can give to our millions of customers worldwide. Our support agent handles the straightforward questions in seconds, drawing on Xero’s own help content and each customer's context to give an answer that’s relevant to their enquiry. When something’s complex, the agent asks the right follow-ups and hands over to one of our specialists, with a full transcript so nobody starts from scratch. Watch the agent in action below. The point is to protect the human conversation. By letting the agent carry the repetitive load, our specialists get to spend their time on the more complex, human problems, where they make the biggest difference. And this is just the start of what the agent can do. We’ll continue to add more capability through agentic actions being automatically taken as a result of the interaction, which will continue to free up more of our people’s time to be spent having more value-added conversations with our customers. We've built a great relationship with Salesforce over many years, and that partnership is now powering world class agentic capability for our customers, placing Xero firmly among the top tier of Agentforce deployments globally. A huge thank you to the teams who built this, and to our partners at Salesforce who tell the wider story of how we're using Agentforce here: https://lnkd.in/gHC2dier Lets Go Xero! There is so much more we can do to serve customers and “Lucy” was just the start :)

‼️Founding Teams Decide the Outcome This TechCrunch piece nails something founders often learn the hard way. Your founding team decisions echo for years. A few points that matter more than most people admit: Your earliest hires define the culture. Not later. Not after Series A. Day one. Investors are part of the team. Choose people who show up, not just wire money. Equity choices shape trust. Clarity upfront prevents resentment later. Early employees must believe. Talent without conviction rarely lasts when pressure hits. Founders spend endless time on product and fundraising. The real leverage is getting the people right early. Worth the read if you are building something you want to last. #Founders #Startups #VentureCapital #Leadership #TeamBuilding #Entrepreneurship https://lnkd.in/e95XJbE5

I like Daniel Lewis' articulation of how LegalOn Technologies (AI contract review software) exceeds what’s possible with the lower plateau of legal AI startups. "We have more than 50 attorney-built playbooks, seamless integration into existing workflows, and our solution works out-of-the-box on day one,” + “a foundation in attorney-drafted, expert legal content”, Daniel says. It’s an equation for how an AI tool can gain purchase. Expert-built playbooks. Deep, specialized data. Doesn't break your workflow. Increase the value. Decrease the friction. https://lnkd.in/g9yu4Zzs

I'm excited to be leading my 9th Demo Day Fund for the YC W26 batch! (Link: https://lnkd.in/ez2wjVCV) I love helping people outside the ecosystem get access to what is the best pool of early-stage startups on the planet. I've been involved with YC since 2015, first going through YC myself, staying closely involved with the community for 7+ years, and culminating in working there as a Visiting Partner, where I invested in over 120 companies and helped them raise over $200M in capital. YC companies continue to get better and better, with AI accelerating how quickly they can build and grow revenue and more amazing hard-tech companies that will change the world going through the batch. I've been shocked at how many companies have grown to over $1M ARR in under a year and gone on to raise subsequent rounds. The old stat was that 5% of companies each batch become unicorns, but it seems to me like that's going to start ticking higher and higher. Click here to join me! https://lnkd.in/ez2wjVCV

🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg
